Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma presenting as rapidly progressive dementia and stroke: A case report
Rationale:
Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a rare form of large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The diagnosis is challenging and frequently made at biopsy. Here we reported a case of IVLBCL limited to the central nervous system (CNS) presenting with progressive dementia and acute stroke, who was diagnosed by brain biopsy.

Effects of IL-1 β on hippocampus cell apoptosis and learning ability of vascular dementia rats.
CONCLUSIONS: IL-1β can delay VD occurrence and development through the P38-MAPK signaling pathway to regulate cell apoptosis and improve learning ability.

Limbic Encephalitis Exacerbations and Remissions Charted by Microglial PET Scan: A Case Study (P4.104)
CONCLUSIONS: C-11-PK11195 PET imaging can be useful in the diagnosis of limbic encephalitis and for monitoring response to treatment. MALT lymphoma may also be associated with autoimmune or paraneoplastic encephalitis, especially in individuals with other predisposing factors to autoimmune disorders, such as Tourette’s and autoimmune thyroid disease. The reduction in microglial activity with both IVIG and anti-psychotics supports previous findings that anti-psychotics may act through anti-inflammatory pathways.Disclosure: Dr. Shatz has received research support from Janssen Pharmaceutica. Atorvastatin inhibits cholesterol-induced caspase-3 cleavage through down-regulation of p38 and up-regulation of Bcl-2 in the rat carotid artery.
CONCLUSIONS: The resultant data suggest that the anti-apoptotic effect of AV could be partially mediated by the pro-inflammatory protein p38 MAPK and the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 in the rat carotid artery. Atorvastatin can therefore be considered a target drug in the prevention or development of atherosclerotic events.
