I talk to my patients about the danger of not sleeping all the time. Unfortunately, it’s a common problem that affects 75 million Americans.
People who don’t sleep, or sleep poorly, have up to 400% more accidents that those who get a good night’s rest. Not getting enough sleep also increases your risk of developing chronic diseases.
Studies, including a large meta-analysis of 470,000 adults, found that those who slept less than six hours developed a:1,2,3,4,5

Effects of Patient Comorbidities and Demographics on Episode-of-Care Costs Following Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
CONCLUSION: Providers should be aware that certain demographic variables and comorbidities (history of stroke, dementia, chronic pulmonary disease, anemia, heart disease, advanced age, and elevated body mass index) are associated with an increase in total costs following primary shoulder arthroplasty. Evaluation of vascular cognitive impairment using the ICMR-Neuro cognitive tool box (ICMR-NCTB) in a stroke cohort from India
Conclusion: The ICMR-NCTB is a valid neuropsychological toolbox that can be used for comprehensive cognitive assessment and diagnosis of VCI in India. In addition, the Indian version of MoCA is more adept as a screening instrument to detect VCI due to its high sensitivity. The ICMR-NCTB will aid in early detection and management of many patients, thereby reducing the burden of vascular MCI and dementia in India.

Conclusions
Advancing age in PD may correlate with paradoxically more aggressive goals as it relates to life-sustaining treatment preferences including cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This may reflect a response to heightened concern among older adults with PD about the potential for compromised autonomy in the setting of aging.

According to the National Academies of Science, Medicine, and Engineering, even before the pandemic, 24% of Americans 65+ were considered socially isolated, and 43% of adults 60+ were lonely. Both experiences are associated with serious physical and mental health problems, including increased risks of dementia, stroke, depression, and suicidal ideation. As older adults engage in stricter social distancing to protect themselves from COVID-19, their risk of social isolation and loneliness is heightened.

The effects of choral singing on communication impairments in acquired brain injury: A systematic review.
CONCLUSIONS & IMPLICATIONS: Currently, there is only one study providing support for using group singing to improve speech and voice skills in people with Parkinson's disease, and no studies of adequate quality indicating positive effects on language and functional communication abilities in ABI.
