Fasting blood glucose-to-glycated hemoglobin ratio for evaluating clinical outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke
ConclusionThe glucose-to-HbA1c ratio was associated with more severe AIS. Specifically, the glucose-to-HbA1c ratio was associated with the functional outcomes in patients without diabetes but not in patients with diabetes.

Absence of susceptibility vessel sign and hyperdense vessel sign in patients with cancer-related stroke
ConclusionThe absence of SVS but not HVS could help to identify paraneoplastic hypercoagulability in stroke patients with active cancer and guide patient care.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for post-stroke depression: An overview of systematic reviews
ConclusionPatients with post-stroke depression may benefit from repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. However, in terms of the quality of the reports, the methodology, and the quality of the evidence, published systematic evaluations/meta-analyses are of low quality. We list the drawbacks of the current clinical trials of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for post-stroke depression as well as potential therapeutic mechanisms. This information may serve as a guide for future clinical trials aiming to establish a solid foundation for the clinical efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in ...

Impact of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy on short- and long-term outcomes of pregnancy-associated hemorrhagic stroke
ConclusionsIn this retrospective study, women with hypertension disorders of pregnancy did not show worse short-term outcomes of pregnancy-associated hemorrhagic stroke compared to those without but had poorer long-term functional outcomes. This underlines the importance of prevention, recognition, and treatment of hypertension disorders in these women.

Evidence of clinical efficacy and pharmacological mechanism of N-butylphthalide in the treatment of delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide poisoning
ConclusionThe NMA screened for regimens with better efficacy for each outcome indicator in order to provide a reference for clinical treatment. NBP can stably bind ALB, ESR1, EGFR, HSP90AA1, and other targets, and may play a role in neuroprotection for patients with DEACMP by modulating Lipid and atherosclerosis, IL-17 signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, FoxO signaling pathway, PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.

Influence of the constraint-induced method of constraint-induced movement therapy on improving lower limb outcomes after stroke: A meta-analysis review
ConclusionConstraint-induced movement therapy is superior to conventional treatment for improvement of lower limb function in the short-term but not in the long-term. The CIMT method of using a weight strapped around a non-paretic leg contributed negatively to the treatment effect, and therefore might not be recommended.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO, identifier: CRD42021268681.

How often is occult atrial fibrillation in cryptogenic stroke causal vs. incidental? A meta-analysis
ConclusionCurrent evidence is preliminary, but it indicates that in cryptogenic stroke when occult AF is found, it is causal in about 38.2% of patients. These findings suggest that anticoagulation therapy may be beneficial to prevent recurrent stroke in a substantial proportion of patients with CS found to have occult AF.

Differences in clinical and biological factors between patients with PFO-related stroke and patients with PFO and no cerebral vascular events
We present a study concerning clinical, demographic, and laboratory factors associated with stroke and transient ischemic attack in patients with patent foramen ovale (PFO), as well as comparing PFO-patients with and without cerebrovascular ischemic events (CVEs).Patients and methodsConsecutive patients with PFO-associated CVEs were included in the study; control group was selected from patients with a PFO and no history of stroke. All participants underwent peripheral routine blood analyses, as well as, on treating physician's recommendations, screening for thrombophilia.ResultsNinety-five patients with CVEs and 41 contro...

Epileptiform activity in the acute phase of stroke predicts the outcomes in patients without seizures
ConclusionsAbnormalities in EEG without clinical manifestation are present in 40% of patients with acute stroke. Changes in EEG in acute stroke are associated with a poor neurological status in the first days and poor functional status in the chronic period of stroke.
