Relationship between antibiotic resistance with class 1 integron and SmeDEF efflux pump encoding genes in clinical isolates of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia
J Appl Genet. 2023 Aug 14. doi: 10.1007/s13353-023-00776-6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTStenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emerging multidrug-resistant organism with an increasing frequency of hospital-acquired infections predominantly in developing countries. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibiotic resistance and frequency of the smeD, class 1 integron, and sul1 genes in clinical isolates of S. maltophilia in two Iranian provinces. From January 2020 to September 2021, 38 clinical isolates of S. maltophilia were collected from patients in hospitals in Tabriz and Sanandaj provinces of Iran. S. maltophili...

BTEX in Ambient Air of Zarand, the Industrial City in Southeast of Iran: Concentration, Spatio-temporal Variation and Health Risk Assessment
Bull Environ Contam Toxicol. 2023 Aug 12;111(2):25. doi: 10.1007/s00128-023-03778-6.ABSTRACTThe existence of several industries in Zarand, a city in Southeastern Iran, caused challenges for the residents about air pollutants and associated health effects. In the present study, the concentration of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX), spatio-temporal distribution and related health risks were evaluated. Passive samplers were used to collect 30 samples in the over the hot and cold periods in 2020. The ordinary Kriging method was used to predict the spatio-temporal distribution of BTEXs. Also, the Monte Carlo si...

A novel loss of function mutation in the PHD domain of the RAG2 gene, affecting zinc-binding affinity
CONCLUSION: The identification of a novel pathogenic variant, c.1268G > C, revealed that this variant in the zinc-binding domain diminished the affinity of the zinc ion to the mutant protein and consequently led to the loss of its ability to bind to the RSS.PMID:37573280 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-023-08731-8
