Calcitriol Suppressed Isoproterenol-induced Proliferation of Cardiac Fibroblasts via Integrin β3/FAK/Akt Pathway
ConclusionThese findings revealed a novel role for CAL in suppressing the CFs growth by the downregulation of the integrin β3/FAK/Akt pathway.

VDR promotes nucleus pulposus cell mitophagy as a protective mechanism against oxidative stress injury
This study demonstrates that VDR activation ameliorates oxidative damage and decreases NP cell apoptosis by promoting PINK1/Parkin-dependent mitophagy, indicating that VDR may serve as a promising therapeutic target in the management of IDD.PMID:35786375 | DOI:10.1080/10715762.2022.2094791

Shikonin induces odontoblastic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells via AKT-mTOR signaling in the presence of CD44.
Conclusions: Shikonin can stimulate dental pulp stem cells to undergo odontoblastic differentiation through a mechanism involving the AKT-mTOR signaling pathway and CD44. Although expression of CD44 is important for inducing odontoblastic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells, the relationship between the AKT-mTOR signaling pathway and CD44 expression, in the context of shikonin stimulation, has not yet been elucidated. This study suggests that shikonin may be useful for inducing odontoblastic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells, and that it may have clinical applications, including protection of the dental pulp....

HSC-specific knockdown of GGPPS alleviated CCl4-induced chronic liver fibrosis through mediating RhoA/Rock pathway.
Authors: Lai SS, Fu X, Cheng Q, Yu ZH, Jiang EZ, Zhao DD, Yu DC, Qiu YD, Gao X, Ju HX, Wang W, Jiang Q, Zhu MS, Li CJ, Xue B Abstract Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) play a critical role in the pathogenesis and reversal of liver fibrosis. Targeting HSCs is of great significance in the treatment of hepatic fibrosis, and has attracted wide attention of scholars. Here we demonstrated that expression of geranylgeranyldiphosphate synthase (GGPPS) predominantly increased in HSCs in murine fibrotic liver. HSC-specific knockdown of GGPPS using vitamin A-coupled liposome carrying siRNA-ggpps decreased activation of HSCs and a...

15-Deoxy- Δ(12,14)-prostaglandin J2 stabilizes hypoxia inducible factor-1α through induction of heme oxygenase-1 and direct modification ofprolyl-4-hydroxylase 2.
15-Deoxy-Δ(12,14)-prostaglandin J2 stabilizes hypoxia inducible factor-1α through induction of heme oxygenase-1 and direct modification ofprolyl-4-hydroxylase 2. Free Radic Res. 2016 Oct;50(10):1140-1152 Authors: Choi JE, Kim JH, Song NY, Suh J, Kim DH, Kim SJ, Na HK, Nadas J, Dong Z, Cha YN, Surh YJ Abstract 15-Deoxy-Δ(12,14)-prostaglandin J2 (15d-PGJ2), a representative J-series cyclopentenone prostaglandin, has biphasic roles in cell proliferation and apoptosis. Hypoxia inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) regulates expression of various genes involved in tumor growth and angiogenesis. In the present study...
