Role of Thrombospondin ‑1 in sepsis‑induced myocardial injury
Mol Med Rep. 2021 Dec;24(6):869. doi: 10.3892/mmr.2021.12509. Epub 2021 Oct 26.ABSTRACTSepsis often causes myocardial injury with a high mortality. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of thrombospondin‑1 (THBS1) on myocardial cell injury, oxi‑dative stress and apoptosis in sepsis. The expression of THBS1 mRNA in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‑induced mouse primary cardiomyocytes was detected by reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR (RT‑qPCR). A eukaryotic small interfering (si)RNA expression vector was constructed and transfected into myocardial cells to knockdown THBS1 mRNA expression, which w...

Knockdown of < em > lncRNA < /em > < em > MEG8 < /em > inhibits cell proliferation and invasion, but promotes cell apoptosis in hemangioma, via < em > miR ‑203 < /em > ‑induced mediation of the Notch signaling pathway
In conclusion, the findings of the present study suggested that lncRNA MEG8 knockdown may inhibit cell proliferation and invasion, but promote cell apoptosis in hemangioma via miR‑203‑induced mediation of the Notch signaling pathway.PMID:34713294 | DOI:10.3892/mmr.2021.12512

CD146 mediates the anti-apoptotic role of Netrin-1 in endothelial progenitor cells under hypoxic conditions
In conclusion, Netrin‑1 enhanced the angiogenic function of EPCs and alleviated hypoxia‑induced apoptosis, which was mediated by CD146. This biological function of Netrin‑1 may provide a potential therapeutic option to promote EPCs for the treatment of ischemic vascular diseases.PMID:34738629 | DOI:10.3892/mmr.2021.12521

Proteomic analysis of inhibitor of apoptosis protein ‑like protein‑2 on breast cancer cell proliferation
Mol Med Rep. 2022 Mar;25(3):89. doi: 10.3892/mmr.2022.12605. Epub 2022 Jan 18.ABSTRACTAlthough inhibitor of apoptosis protein‑like protein‑2 (ILP‑2) is considered to be a novel enhancer of breast cancer proliferation, its underlying mechanism of action remains unknown. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the expression profile of ILP‑2‑related proteins in MCF‑7 cells to reveal their effect on promoting breast cancer cell proliferation. The isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) method was used to analyse the expression profile of ILP‑2‑related proteins in MCF‑7 breast...

FRAT1 promotes the angiogenic properties of human glioblastoma cells via VEGFA
Mol Med Rep. 2022 Mar;25(3):95. doi: 10.3892/mmr.2022.12611. Epub 2022 Jan 21.ABSTRACTGlioblastoma is a common central nervous system tumor and despite considerable advancements in treatment patient prognosis remains poor. Angiogenesis is a significant prognostic factor in glioblastoma, anti‑angiogenic treatments represent a promising therapeutic approach. Vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) is a predominant regulator of angiogenesis and mounting evidence suggests that the Wnt signaling pathway serves a significant role in tumor angiogenesis. As a positive regulator of the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway, fre...
