Exosomal miR-130a-3p promotes the progression of differentiated thyroid cancer by targeting insulin-like growth factor 1
Oncol Lett. 2021 Apr;21(4):283. doi: 10.3892/ol.2021.12544. Epub 2021 Feb 12.ABSTRACTThe aim of the present study was to determine the expression and diagnostic value of exosomal miR-130a-3p in the serum of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Exosomes were isolated from the serum of patients with DTC and were identified using transmission electron microscopy. A novel exosomal miRNA, miR-130a-3p, was found to be significantly decreased in the serum of patients with DTC compared with those with benign thyroid tumors and healthy controls. Further study revealed that exosomal miR-130a-3p was correlated with the ...

Differential expression of < em > COL4A3 < /em > and collagen in upward and downward progressing types of nasopharyngeal carcinoma
In conclusion, the gene mutation patterns were significantly different between the upward and downward progressing types of NPC. In addition, the expression level of the COL4A3 gene was decreased in the downward progressing type, which might promote NPC metastasis through the downregulation of extracellular collagen expression.PMID:33613712 | PMC:PMC7859474 | DOI:10.3892/ol.2021.12484

Downregulation of histone-lysine N-methyltransferase EZH2 inhibits cell viability and enhances chemosensitivity in lung cancer cells.
Authors: Cao Z, Wu W, Wei H, Zhang W, Huang Y, Dong Z Abstract Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase EZH2 (EZH2) is the principle component of the polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2)/embryonic ectoderm development protein-EZH2 complex, which promotes tumorigenesis by repressing transcription of tumor suppressor genes. EZH2 is considered a key marker in several types of cancer, such as colorectal and prostate cancer. However, the molecular mechanisms and clinical value of EZH2 in lung cancer have not yet been fully investigated. The aim of the present study was to investigate the functions of EZH2 in lung cancer progr...

LINC00294 induced by GRP78 promotes cervical cancer development by promoting cell cycle transition.
Authors: Qiu J, Zhou S, Cheng W, Luo C Abstract Cervical cancer is one of the most common gynecological malignancies, and it has become a crucial public health problem. In the present study, the expression profiles of cervical cancer and normal cervical tissues were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus and The Cancer Genome Atlas databases. Subsequently, the dysregulated long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in cervical cancer were identified using R software Differentially expressed lncRNAs in cervical cancer that were associated with glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) were screened out and the results demonstra...

SUMO4 small interfering RNA attenuates invasion and migration via the JAK2/STAT3 pathway in non-small cell lung cancer cells.
In conclusion, SUMO4 may play an important role in the poor prognosis of patients with NSCLC. The present study indicates that SUMO4 may be a potential therapeutic target for NSCLC. PMID: 32968447 [PubMed]

Effects of hyperinsulinemia on acquired resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor via the PI3K/AKT pathway in non-small cell lung cancer cells in vitro.
In conclusion, hyperinsulinemia, but not hyperglycemia, was identified to cause the development of gefitinib resistance in NSCLC cells with activating EGFR mutations. However, additional studies are required to investigate strategies, such as co targeting hyperinsulinemia and the PI3K/AKT pathway, for overcoming EGFR-TKI resistance in patients with NSCLC. α-enolase is highly expressed in liver cancer and promotes cancer cell invasion and metastasis.
Authors: Zhang L, Lu T, Yang Y, Hu L Abstract The expression levels of α-enolase, also known as enolase 1 (ENO1), in liver cancer tissues and the autoantibody levels of ENO1 in the sera of patients with liver cancer were detected to investigate the function of ENO1 in the invasion and metastasis of liver cancer, as well as its clinical diagnostic value. Small interfering RNA (siRNA) was used to disrupt ENO1 gene expression in HepG2 and Huh7 liver cancer cells. The proliferation ability of liver cancer cells was assessed using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8); the migration ability of liver cancer cells was assessed usi...

Low HOXC10 expression in liver cancer regulates proliferation via a mechanism involving miR-221 and the MAPK signaling pathway.
Authors: Ma K, Zhao C, Guo K, Fu Z, Che C, Dong B, Pang C, Zhang S, Liu W, Yang Z, Liang R, Wang L Abstract Homeodomain-containing gene 10 (HOXC10) is associated with the progression of a variety of different types of human cancer; however, the role of HOXC10 in liver cancer is not completely understood. The present study aimed to investigate the mechanisms underlying the effects of HOXC10 on liver cancer tumorigenesis. Quantitative PCR and western blotting were used to detect the expression patterns of HOXC10 in cancer and adjacent healthy tissues. EdU, Cell Counting Kit-8 and colony formation assays were used to ...
