The impact of sitagliptin in palmitic acid-induced insulin resistance in human HepG2 cells through the suppressor of cytokine signaling 3/phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B pathway
In this study, we established an in vitro insulin resistance cell model for human HepG2 cells to investigate the possible mechanism of the effect of sitagliptin on glucose metabolism via the SOCS3/phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) pathway. DPP4 gene silencing inhibits proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition of papillary thyroid carcinoma cells through suppression of the MAPK pathway
ConclusionCollectively, the present study demonstrated that DPP4 gene silencing inhibits PTC cell proliferation and EMT and promotes cell apoptosis via suppression of the MAPK pathway, thus highlighting a possible regulatory pathway in PTC progression.

Reduced DPP4 activity improves insulin signaling in primary human adipocytes.
Abstract DPP4 is a ubiquitously expressed cell surface protease which is also released to the circulation as soluble DPP4 (sDPP4). Recently, we identified DPP4 as a novel adipokine oversecreted in obesity and thus potentially linking obesity to the metabolic syndrome. Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibition by gemigliptin prevents abnormal vascular remodeling via NF-E2-related factor 2 activation.
Abstract Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors exert a potent anti-hyperglycemic effect and reduce cardiovascular risk in type 2 diabetic patients. Several studies have shown that DPP-4 inhibitors including sitagliptin have beneficial effects in atherosclerosis and cardiac infarction involving reactive oxygen species. Here, we show that gemigliptin can directly attenuate the abnormal proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) via enhanced NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) activity.
