ARHGEF10L Promotes Cervical Tumorigenesis via RhoA-Mediated Signaling
This study investigated the pathogenic role and mechanism of ARHGEF10L in cervical tumors.METHODS: The HeLa cell line, which was derived from cervical carcinoma, was transfected with ARHGEF10L-overexpressing plasmids or anti-ARHGEF10L siRNA. Cell counting kit-8 assays, wound-healing assays, and cell apoptosis assays were performed to investigate the effects of ARHGEF10L on cell activities. A Rho pull-down assay and RNA-sequencing analysis were performed to investigate the pathogenic pathway of ARHGEF10L involvement in cervical tumors.RESULTS: ARHGEF10L overexpression promoted cell proliferation and migration, reduced cell ...

1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 suppresses gastric cancer cell growth through VDR- and mutant p53-mediated induction of p21
Publication date: Available online 29 April 2017 Source:Life Sciences Author(s): Mingxing Li, Longfei Li, Lin Zhang, Wei Hu, Jing Shen, Zhangang Xiao, Xu Wu, Franky Leung Chan, Chi Hin Cho Aims Previous studies have indicated that vitamin D deficiency correlates with cancer risk and vitamin D potentiates antitumor effects in a variety of cancers. The antitumor effect of vitamin D on gastric cancer was rarely studied. We aimed to investigate the antitumor effect of vitamin D on gastric cancer and underlying mechanisms. Main methods We investigated the antitumor activity of the active form of vitamin D, 1α,25-dihydroxyvita...

Akt/AMPK/mTOR pathway was involved in the autophagy induced by vitamin E succinate in human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells.
Abstract Vitamin E succinate (VES), a derivative of vitamin E, is a promising cancer chemopreventive agent that inhibits tumor promotion by inducing apoptotic cell death. The effects of VES on autophagy, an intricate programmed process which helps cells survive in some stressed situations by degrading some cytoplasmic material, are unclear. When human gastric cancer cells SCG-7901 were exposed to VES, both the level of microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 and the yeast ATG6 homolog Beclin-1 increased, and related autophagy genes were activated, thereby suggesting that autophagy was induced by VES. We als...

Vitamin D Analog EB1089 Induces Apoptosis in a Subpopulation of SGC-7901 Gastric Cancer Cells Through a Mitochondrial-Dependent Apoptotic Pathway.
Abstract Gastric cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Cancer stem-like side population (SP) cells may be important factors that hinder efficacy of chemopreventative and chemotherapeutic approaches in gastric cancer. EB1089 is an antitumor agent that has been used in many cancers; however, no reports to date have determined the effects of EB1089 in gastric cancer. In our study, SP and main population (MP) cells were isolated from 4 gastric cancer cell lines in different stages of differentiation by flow cytometry (FCM) and confirmed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR...
