Liver abscess due to Granulicatella adiacens in an immunocompetent patient: Case report
We present the case of an immunocompetent adult patient who presented 15 days of evolution consisting of quantified fever peaks associated with asthenia, adynamia, chills, jaundice and coluria. Pediatric Sinogenic Subdural Empyema: Case Report and Operative Technique
We present the surgical procedure with a pictorial step-by-step description. After the surgical procedure the patient’s condition gradually improved. He regained full neurolo gical function, was accompanied by a rehabilitation team on recovering full force on the left extremities. At discharge the patient had no apparent neurological deficits. Subdural empyema is a rare but severe complication of pediatric sinusitis. Early diagnosis with combined medical and surgical the rapies play a key role to reduce morbidity and mortality.

Emphysematous cystitis, iliopsoas abscess, and pneumorrhachis in an elderly woman: a case report
ConclusionsOur case adds to a growing body of literature showing that the spread of air to distant sites, including the spine, may be a poor prognostic indicator in patients with gangrenous intraabdominal infections. This report highlights the importance of recognizing the causes and presentation of pneumorrhachis to facilitate early diagnosis and treatment of potentially life threatening and treatable causes.

Does longer peripheral intravenous catheter length optimise antimicrobial delivery? Protocol for the LEADER study
This study will investigate the use of long PIVCs to determine if they are more reliable at delivering antimicrobial therapy.METHODS: A two-arm, parallel randomised controlled trial of hospitalised adults requiring at least 3 days of peripherally compatible intravenous antimicrobials. Participants will be randomised to a short (<4 cm) or long (4.5-6.4 cm) PIVC. After interim analysis ( n=70) for feasibility and safety, 192 participants will be recruited.
