IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 1202: Efficacy of Topical Treatments for the Management of Symptomatic Oral Lichen Planus: A Systematic Review
lobrigida Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic mucosal inflammatory disease associated with T-cell-mediated immunological dysfunction. Symptomatic OLP is a painful condition, and complete healing is often not achieved. The aim of this systematic review was to assess the effectiveness of topical drugs, medications, and other interventions compared to placebo or to other treatments in pain reduction and clinical resolution in adult patients with symptomatic OLP. A detailed electronic literature search was performed through the MEDLINE (PubMed) database between 1 January 2005 and 30 September 2022. Eligible studies were ...

Effects of therapeutic interventions on pain due to plantar fasciitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Considering the available studies, this systematic review and meta-analysis showed that different therapeutic interventions seem to be useful strategies for improving pain in patients with plantar fasciitis. In the medium and long term, only extracorporeal shock wave therapy was effective in improving pain when compared to the control.PMID:36571559 | DOI:10.1177/02692155221143865

Use of infrared photobiomodulation with low-level laser therapy for reduction of bleaching-induced tooth sensitivity after in-office bleaching: a double-blind, randomized controlled trial
AbstractThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of infrared photobiomodulation with low-level laser therapy (PBM) to reduce bleaching-induced tooth sensitivity (TS) after in-office bleaching. Eighty-three participants were randomized in blocks into two groups. In the experimental group, the patients received an application after each session of in-office bleaching (35% hydrogen peroxide, 1  × 50 min; 2 sessions with 1-week interval), while the laser application was simulated in the control group. The PBM system was operated in continuous mode, using 3 J of energy. A dose of 100 J/cm2 was applied for 30  s...

Comparison of the effectiveness of dry needling and high-intensity laser therapy in the treatment of myofascial pain syndrome: a randomized single-blind controlled study
AbstractMyofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a very common disease in the population that seriously affects quality of life. Although many treatment modalities are used, there is still no common protocol. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) and dry needling options. This prospective study included 108 patients with neck and/or upper back pain, diagnosed with MPS, who were randomly separated into 3 groups: the exercise group, the exercise  + HILT group (HILT group), and the exercise + dry needling group (needling group). The visual analog scale (VAS), neck disab...
