Urticaria in childhood —what’s new?
AbstractUrticaria can manifest at any age, including infants and young children. Urticaria is one of the most prevalent skin diseases in childhood. As in adults, a  distinction is made between acute and chronic urticaria, with chronic urticaria further classified into chronic spontaneous urticaria and inducible urticaria. According to the current German S3 guideline for classification, diagnosis, and treatment of urticaria, existing literature suggests that the prevalence, disease characteristics, causes, and also the response to treatment are very similar in children and adults. The clinical hallmark of urticaria is the...

Digital Health Applications in the Area of Mental Health —a Scoping Review
CONCLUSION: Most of the published studies display a high risk of bias, both because of the manufacturers' participation and because of methodological deficiencies. DiGA are an increasingly important therapeutic modality in psychiatry. Use of virtual reality in port implantation to reduce perioperative anxiety and pain: protocol for a randomised controlled pilot trial at a single German university hospital (VIP-trial; DRKS00028508)
Introduction Intravenous access port implantation is commonly performed under local anaesthesia, which offers advantages such as increased patient satisfaction and resource savings compared with general anaesthesia. However, patients may experience increased perioperative stress and anxiety in the operating room setting without general anaesthesia. Virtual reality (VR) distraction or hypnosis during surgery under local anaesthesia may help patients to auditorily and visually separate from their real environment and engage with a virtual environment through hypnorelaxing guidance. Previous studies suggested that VR hypnosed...

Impact of a pediatric primary care health-coaching program on change in health-related quality of life in children with mental health problems: results of the PrimA-QuO cohort study
BMC Prim Care. 2023 Sep 8;24(1):182. doi: 10.1186/s12875-023-02119-0.ABSTRACTMental health problems (MHP) have a considerable negative impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children and their families. A low threshold Health Coaching (HC) program has been introduced to bring MH services to primary care and strengthen the role of pediatricians. It comprised training concepts as a hands-on approach for pediatricians, standardization of diagnosis and treatment, and extended consultations. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential effects of the HC on HRQoL in children with MHP and their parents. We used...

Determinants of Depressive Symptoms, Quality of Life, Subjective Health Status and Physical Limitation in Patients with Systemic Sclerosis
This study demonstrates that nearly half of patients with systemic sclerosis probably experience depressive symptoms. The rate of patients with risk of depressive symptoms, pain and physical limitations increased during the systemic sclerosis disease process. Health-related quality of life and state of health declined, indicating the need for better interdisciplinary care for patients with systemic sclerosis.PMID:37671777 | DOI:10.2340/actadv.v103.6502
