Validation of myocarditis diagnoses in the Swedish patient register for analyses of potential adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines
CONCLUSION: This validation of register-based diagnoses of myocarditis by manual patient record review confirmed the register diagnosis in 96% of cases and had high interrater reliability. Reclassification had only a minor impact on the incidence rate ratios for myocarditis following COVID-19 vaccination.PMID:37223633 | PMC:PMC10202079 | DOI:10.48101/ujms.v128.9290

Multilocular thymic cyst detected during COVID ‑19 treatment in an HIV‑positive adult man: A case report and literature review
Exp Ther Med. 2023 Apr 28;25(6):285. doi: 10.3892/etm.2023.11984. eCollection 2023 Jun.ABSTRACTA multilocular thymic cyst (MTC) is a rare mediastinal tumor with multiloculated cyst-like structures in the anterior mediastinum. This tumfor is associated with inflammatory diseases, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. The present study reports a case of MTC detected during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) treatment in an adult who was tested HIV positive. An anterior mediastinal tumor was incidentally detected on computed tomography in a 52-year-old man with a 20-year history of HIV infection on the 9th ...

Feature tracking cardiac magnetic resonance imaging to assess cardiac manifestations of systemic diseases
AbstractFeature-tracking cardiac magnetic resonance (FT-CMR), with the ability to quantify myocardial deformation, has a unique role in the evaluation of subclinical myocardial abnormalities. This review aimed to evaluate the clinical use of cardiac FT-CMR-based myocardial strain in patients with various systemic diseases with cardiac involvement, such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer-therapy-related toxicities, amyloidosis, systemic scleroderma, myopathies, rheumatoid arthritis, thalassemia major, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We concluded that FT-CMR-derived strain can improve the accuracy of risk stratificat...

A Case of Magnetic Resonance Imaging-negative Acute Inflammatory Myelopathy Following Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Infection
Intern Med. 2023 May 10. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.1344-22. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 55-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of gait disturbance and urinary retention that acutely emerged 1 week after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection. Acute inflammatory myelopathy was clinically suspected, based on bilateral lower-limb weakness with an extensor plantar response and an elevated immunoglobulin G level in the cerebrospinal fluid. Whole-spine magnetic resonance imaging findings were normal. The central conduction time was extended, based on somatosensory evoked potentials. Her...
