Side effects after COVID-19 vaccination: a comparison between the most common available vaccines in Iran
CONCLUSION: AstraZeneca had a higher proportion of post-vaccination adverse effects than Sputnik V, Pastocovac, and Sinopharm. The most common side effects were flu-like syndrome and local reactions at the injection site. Furthermore, people rarely experienced life-threatening side effects. Thus, the available COVID-19 vaccines in Iran are safe.PMID:37193234 | PMC:PMC10183079 | DOI:10.18502/ijm.v15i2.12467

A Case of Fulminant Listeria Rhombencephalitis with Brainstem Abscesses in a 37-Year-Old Immunocompetent Patient: From Vestibular Neuritis to Ondine's Curse
We present a rare case of Listeria monocytogenes (LM) rhombencephalitis with the formation of multifocal abscesses in a young immunocompetent patient. His initial symptoms of dizziness, headache, and feeling generally unwell were put down to a coincidental coinfection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The unfortunate rapid progression to trigeminal, hypoglossal, vagal, facial, and abducens nuclei palsies, and then an acquired central hypoventilation syndrome, known as Ondine's curse, required a prolonged intensive care unit (ICU) stay, and prolonged mechanical ventilation. As they continued...

Differential Diagnosis, Prevention, and Treatment of mpox (Monkeypox): A Review for Dermatologists
AbstractThe current 2022 mpox (monkeypox) outbreak has been officially recognized as a public health emergency. The mpox clinical symptoms include high fever, fatigue, chills, headache, swollen lymph nodes, muscle aches, and a disseminated painful rash. However, recent cases of mpox have shown a shift in clinical symptoms, with anogenital skin lesions emerging as the predominant feature. Due to the predominant skin manifestations of mpox, dermatologists could be crucial in detecting new mpox cases and educating frontline healthcare professionals about mpox. The mpox virus is continuously evolving and has several variants. ...

Autonomic Dysfunction related to Post-Acute SARS-CoV-2 Syndrome
Persistence of symptoms beyond the initial acute phase of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is termed post-acute SARS-CoV-2 (PASC) and includes neurological, autonomic, pulmonary, cardiac, psychiatric, gastrointestinal, and functional impairment. PASC autonomic dysfunction can present with dizziness, tachycardia, sweating, headache, syncope, labile blood pressure, exercise intolerance and “brain fog.” A multidisciplinary team can help manage this complex syndrome with non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic interventions.

AVP deficiency (central diabetes insipidus) following immunization with anti-COVID-19 BNT162b2 Comirnaty vaccine in adolescents: A case report
ConclusionHypophysitis is a rare disorder characterized by lymphocytic, granulomatous, plasmacytic, or xanthomatous infiltration of the pituitary gland and stalk. Common manifestations are headache, hypopituitarism, and diabetes insipidus. To date, only time correlation between SARS-CoV-2 infection and development of hypophysitis and subsequent hypopituitarism has been reported. Further studies will be needed to deepen a possible causal link between anti-COVID-19 vaccine and AVP deficiency.
