Allergists and COVID-19 Vaccine Allergy Safety: A Pilot Study "Hub-and-Spoke" Model for Population-Wide Allergy Service
CONCLUSION: The Hub-and-Spoke model has proven to be successful for the vaccination campaign. This study has illustrated the crucial role of allergists in countering vaccine hesitancy. Results from the study showed considerable differences in outcomes between allergist-led and non-allergist clinics. Precise reasons for these differences warrant further examination. We are hopeful the Hub-and Spoke model can be similarly adapted for other allergist-integrative services in the future.PMID:35605815 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2022.05.011

New Challenges in Drug Allergy: the Resurgence of Excipients
AbstractPurpose of ReviewAllergy to excipients is a cause of multidrug allergy and if it is not taken into account, it can lead to unexpected severe reactions. If an excipient allergy is suspected, an accurate examination followed by algorithms is very important for a correct diagnosis and to give patients detailed information in order to avoid future reactions.Recent FindingsIn recent times, due to allergy COVID vaccine reactions, interest in excipients as polyethylene glycol derivatives (PEGs) has increased as a possible cause of drug and vaccine hypersensivity. In addition to PEGs many other excipients as gelatin, alpha...

Outcomes from New Consultations to Allergy Clinic for COVID-19 Vaccine Concerns
The rapid mobilization of COVID-19 vaccination created an influx of new consults to the Allergy and Immunology clinic. Our University-based Allergy and Immunology clinic utilized an electronic consult (e-consult) mechanism to manage the volume of requests. We sought to determine the vaccination outcomes following referral to the Allergy and Immunology clinic.

Allergy Workup in the Diagnosis of COVID-19 Vaccines-Induced Hypersensitivity Reactions and Its Impact on Vaccination
Conclusion: On the whole, the usefulness of the skin tests for PEG/polysorbates seems limited in the diagnosis of HSR to COVID-19 vaccines. Graded doses regimen (Pfizer/BioNTech) is a safe and effective alternative strategy to complete the vaccinal course.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Prevalence of α-Gal IgE and Mammalian Meat Allergy in a COVID-19 Vaccine Employee Cohort
The α-Gal syndrome (AGS) is a tick-acquired allergic disorder caused by IgE to galactose-α-1,3-galactose (α-Gal). To date, most studies on AGS come from case-control studies and there is limited information about the prevalence of alpha-gal sensitization and allergy in the community. Here we addresse d these questions in an employee vaccine cohort.

Assisting Front Liners: The Benefits Of Allergy Consultation On The Challenges To Covid Vaccination
Suspected adverse reactions (SAR) to COVID-19 vaccination pose a challenge to successful vaccination programs. In assessing and ruling out risk of adverse reactions to COVID vaccine components, allergy consultations assist in completion of vaccination programs.
