Review Article: Unmet needs of children with peanut allergy: aligning the risks and the evidence.
CONCLUSION: There are significant unmet needs in our understanding of peanut allergy; addressing these needs will help to enhance understanding of how to most effectively prevent and treat peanut allergy, as well as educate the food-allergic and nonallergic community regarding current evidence-based practices. Food allergy prevalence and management at an overnight summer camp.
CONCLUSIONS: Management of food allergies at overnight summer camps warrants similar education and preparation strategies as those implemented in schools. Camp personnel should receive annual training regarding food allergies and anaphylaxis. PMID: 27048948 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Food allergy needs assessment, training curriculum, and knowledge assessment for child care.
CONCLUSIONS: CCCWs have diverse educational backgrounds and infrequently experience standardized training about food allergies. There is a significant lack of knowledge regarding food allergies and anaphylaxis. The curriculum was successful at increasing food allergy knowledge among CCCWs. A survey of inpatient practitioner knowledge of penicillin allergy at 2 community teaching hospitals.
CONCLUSION: There is an overall limited understanding of the management of patients with a history of penicillin allergy in the hospital setting, where collaborative efforts between allergy and nonallergy health care practitioners are sparse. The expansion of a multidisciplinary approach may optimize antimicrobial prescribing in this subset of patients. PMID: 28539186 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Factors Affecting Food Allergy-Related Quality of Life From Parents' Perception in Turkish Children.
CONCLUSIONS: The Turkish FAQLQ-PF is a valid and reliable scale. FA-related QoL was significantly worse with age. Coexistent asthma, anaphylaxis regardless of its severity, cow's milk allergy, sibling allergy and the older and educated mothers seem to poorly affect QoL. PMID: 29949834 [PubMed]

Inpatient Beta-lactam test-dose Protocol promotes Antimicrobial Stewardship in Patients with History of Penicillin Allergy.
CONCLUSION: The antibiotic choice in patients admitted to the hospital with a reported penicillin allergy can be improved by better evaluation of the allergy history and the use of a risk stratification guideline. PMID: 30465860 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The South African Food Sensitisation and Food Allergy population-based study of IgE-mediated food allergy: validity, safety, and acceptability.
CONCLUSION: The study was safe and feasible and the recruitment was effective and representative of the target population. Future studies will aim to increase the precision of the prevalence of food sensitization and allergy, describe environmental risk factors, and include a rural black African cohort. A review of cannabis allergy in the early days of legalization
Ann Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2022 Oct 27:S1081-1206(22)01895-6. doi: 10.1016/j.anai.2022.10.016. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCannabis allergy is a burgeoning field; consequently, research is still in its infancy and allergists' knowledge surrounding this topic is limited. As cannabis legalization expands across the world, it is anticipated that there will be an increase in cannabis use. Thus, we hypothesize that a concomitant rise in the incidence of allergy to this plant can be expected. Initiatives aimed at properly educating health care professionals are therefore necessary. This review presents the most up-to-date inf...

Allergists' self-reported adherence to anaphylaxis practice parameters and perceived barriers to care: an American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology member survey.
CONCLUSION: Allergists overwhelmingly adhere to practice parameter recommendations for the treatment and management of anaphylaxis, including appropriate use of epinephrine as first-line treatment, educating patients, and testing to diagnose anaphylaxis and identify its triggers. Opportunities for improvement include preparing staff and patients for anaphylactic events, providing written action plans, and improving knowledge of referring physicians.
