Midwifery group practice workforce in Australia: A cross-sectional survey of midwives and managers
CONCLUSION: The BMid appears to be a common educational pathway for MGP midwives, and many MGP services are providing care to women with complexities. Flexible practice agreements, organisational support and appropriate workloads are vital for recruitment, retention, and sustainability of MGP.PMID:37726186 | DOI:10.1016/j.wombi.2023.09.002

Stigmatizing attitudes towards mental illness: A cross-sectional survey of Australian medical students
CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrate relatively low MICA-2 scores and high HADS-A scores overall, with no association between HADS scores and stigma.PMID:37724416 | DOI:10.1177/10398562231202119

Scientometric Evaluation of the Itch Mite, < em > Sarcoptes scabiei < /em > (Acari: Sarcoptidae): The Last Four Decades of Global Academic Output on Scabies
CONCLUSION: The majority of the studies were done in a given country while multicenter studies are very rare. It is recommended that more studies should be conducted on scabiosis in developing countries where the problem of scabies is the biggest.PMID:37724367 | DOI:10.4274/tpd.galenos.2023.51423

Rural nutrition and dietetics research-Future directions
CONCLUSION: Establishing strong, collaborative place-based nutrition and dietetics research teams are necessary to combat the significant gaps in the scientific knowledge of solutions to improve nutrition in rural Australia. Further, dieticians and nutritionists who live in and understand the rural contexts are yet to be fully harnessed in research, and better engaging with these professionals will have the best chance of successfully addressing the nutrition-related disease disparity between rural and metropolitan Australia.PMID:37723938 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13041

Working Memory Training for Children Using the Adaptive, Self-Select, and Stepwise Approaches to Setting the Difficulty Level of Training Activities: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSIONS: This trial will determine whether the adaptive approach to setting the difficulty of training activities maximizes cognitive training outcomes for children. This trial has several strengths: it adopts best practices for cognitive training studies (design, methods, and analysis plan); uses a range of measures to detect discrete levels of transfer; has a 6-month postintervention assessment; is appropriately powered; and uses an experimental working memory training intervention based on our current understanding of the cognitive mechanisms of training. Findings will inform future research and design of cognitive ...

Joining forces to understand what matters most: qualitative insights into the patient experience of outpatient rheumatology care
CONCLUSION: This study captured valuable insights into the current experience of outpatient rheumatology care from the perspective of patients and HCPs. It informs a collective understanding of differing and shared priorities, positives of current care and areas requiring change. Themes derived from the study data can be conceptualized in terms of the process, content and impact of care. Such domains can be measured longitudinally by routine implementation of validated patient-reported experience measures in rheumatology.PMID:37724315 | PMC:PMC10505502 | DOI:10.1093/rap/rkad068

Silicone hydrogel versus hydrogel soft contact lenses for differences in patient-reported eye comfort and safety
CONCLUSIONS: The overall evidence for a difference between all included silicone hydrogel and hydrogel SCLs was of very low certainty, with most trials at high overall risk of bias. The majority of studies did not assess comfort using a validated instrument. There was insufficient evidence to support recommending one SCL material over the other. For extended wear, hydrogel SCL may have a lower risk of adverse events at 52 weeks compared to silicon hydrogel. Future well-designed trials are needed to generate high certainty evidence to further clarify differences in SCL material comfort and safety.PMID:37724689 | PMC:PMC1050...

Distinctive Arbutin-Containing Markers: Chemotaxonomic Significance and Insights Into the Evolution of Proteaceae Phytochemistry
Chem Biodivers. 2023 Sep 19:e202301112. doi: 10.1002/cbdv.202301112. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNatural products isolation studies of eight endemic Tasmanian Proteaceae species - Agastachys odorata, Persoonia juniperina, Hakea megadenia, Hakea epiglottis, Orites diversifolius, Orites acicularis,Orites revolutus, and Telopea truncata - and three endemic Australian Proteaceae species Banksia serrata, Banksia praemorsa, and Banksia marginata were undertaken. Two previously unreported glycoside-derived natural products were identified, in addition to four other tremendously rare arbutin esters. The results of this study prov...
