Vaccination Coverage Among Adolescents Aged 13-17 Years - National Immunization Survey-Teen, United States, 2022
MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep. 2023 Aug 25;72(34):912-919. doi: 10.15585/mmwr.mm7234a3.ABSTRACTThree vaccines are routinely recommended for adolescents to prevent pertussis, meningococcal disease, and cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). CDC analyzed data from the 2022 National Immunization Survey-Teen for 16,043 adolescents aged 13-17 years to assess vaccination coverage. Birth cohort analyses were conducted to assess trends in vaccination coverage by age 13 years (i.e., before the 13th birthday) and by age 14 years (i.e., before the 14th birthday) among adolescents who were due for routine vaccination before and dur...

Prenatal Care: An Evidence-Based Approach
Am Fam Physician. 2023 Aug;108(2):139-150.ABSTRACTWell-coordinated prenatal care that follows an evidence-based, informed process results in fewer hospital admissions, improved education, greater satisfaction, and lower pregnancy-associated morbidity and mortality. Care initiated at 10 weeks or earlier improves outcomes. Identification and treatment of periodontal disease decreases preterm delivery risk. A prepregnancy body mass index greater than 25 kg per m2 is associated with gestational diabetes mellitus, hypertension, miscarriage, and stillbirth. Advanced maternal and paternal age (35 years or older) is associated wit...

Development and validation of capillary electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate (CE-SDS) method for purity analysis of pertussis toxin, filamentous haemagglutinin and pertactin antigens
We report here the development and validation of CE-SDS method for purity analysis of Acellular Pertussis vaccine components viz. purified Pertussis toxin (PTx), purified Filamentous haemagglutinin (FHA), and Pertactinantigen (PRN). The method was found to be specific and showed excellent linearity at a concentration range of 15.62 µg/mL-1000 µg/mL for purified PTx, 31.25 µg/mL-1000 µg/mL for purified FHA, and 3.9 µg/mL-1000 µg/mL for PRN antigen. Method reported limit of quantification (LOQ) 31.25 µg/mL, 62.5 µg/mL, and 7.8 µg/mL for purified PTx, FHA, and PRN respectively. Method precision (repeatability and int...
