Knowledge about hepatitis E and influencing factors among the residents in Qingdao: A cross-sectional study
This study used online survey on the Wechat platform for investigation. Chi-square test was used to compare the hepatitis E influencing factors between subgroups. Binary logistic regression was used for multiple factor analysis to explore the hepatitis E influencing factors. We have found the total awareness rate of hepatitis E was 60.51%. Females, aged between 51 and 60, aged 61 and above, worked in government-affiliated departments were found to have higher awareness rate than other subgroups. The participants who have family members infected with hepatitis E were found to have lower awareness rate. The government and re...

The position of Spy Tag/Catcher system in hepatitis B core protein particles affects the immunogenicity and stability of the synthetic vaccine
This study will expand our knowledge on "plug-and-display" decoration strategies and provide helpful guidance for the rational design of HBc-VLPs based modular vaccines by using SpyTag/Catcher synthesis.PMID:37391312 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.06.070

Biomaterial-based delivery platforms for transdermal immunotherapy
Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 Jun 27;165:115048. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.115048. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNowadays, immunotherapy is one of the most essential treatments for various diseases and a broad spectrum of disorders are assumed to be treated by altering the function of the immune system. For this reason, immunotherapy has attracted a great deal of attention and numerous studies on different approaches for immunotherapies have been investigated, using multiple biomaterials and carriers, from nanoparticles (NPs) to microneedles (MNs). In this review, the immunotherapy strategies, biomaterials, devices, and disea...

Delaying the third dose of Japanese aluminum-free hepatitis A vaccine Aimmugen elicits effective immune responses against hepatitis A in adults
Vaccine. 2023 Jun 21:S0264-410X(23)00723-5. doi: 10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.06.048. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInactivated aluminum-adsorbed hepatitis A vaccines such as Havrix, Vaqta, and Avaxim are commonly used worldwide. These vaccines are typically administered in a two-dose series (at 0 and 6-12 months). However, a lyophilized inactivated aluminum-free hepatitis A vaccine, Aimmugen, which is approved in Japan, is typically administered in a three-dose series (at 0, 2-4, and 24 weeks). Hence, individuals visiting endemic hepatitis A areas receive the primary two doses of Aimmugen before traveling and the third booster ...

Hepatitis B reactivation: A possible cause of coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine induced hepatitis
CONCLUSIONS: COVID-19 vaccine induced hepatitis is a clinical significant complication, and HBV reactivation may account for a possible mechanism.PMID:37349170 | PMC:PMC10281508 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2023.06.007

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients with viral hepatitis B infection: follow-up, compliance with antiviral treatment, and vaccine preferences
CONCLUSIONS: It was reported that elimination programs and interventions for HBV infection decreased or stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the present study, no newly diagnosed case of HBV infection was detected. Most of the patients had their follow-up visits disrupted. There were no patients who could not receive antiviral treatment, the vaccination rate of the patients was high, and the vaccines were well tolerated.PMID:37318505 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32650

National vaccination policies for health workers - A cross-sectional global overview
CONCLUSION: National policies for vaccinating health workers were complex and context specific with regional and income-level variations. Opportunities exist for developing and strengthening national health worker immunization programmes. Existing health worker immunization programmes might provide a foothold on which broader health worker vaccination policies can be built and strengthened.PMID:37321897 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.04.083
