A Gellan Gum/Sodium Alginate-based gastric-protective hydrogel loaded with a combined herbal extract consisting of Panax notoginseng, Bletilla striata and Dendrobium officinale
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Aug 10:126277. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126277. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOne Chinese herbal combination consisting of Panax notoginseng, Bletilla striata and Dendrobium officinale (PBD) is an effective Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) prescription and is widely used in clinics to treat gastric ulcers due to their safety and effectiveness compared with chemical agents, such as aspirin and omeprazole. Herein, an in situ forming gel (ISFG) based on Gellan Gum (GG) and Sodium Alginate (SA) was designed to deliver extracts of PBD prescription (EPBDP). The central composite design optimized p...

Preferred monotherapy after short-term dual antiplatelet therapy: Systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized trials
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with aspirin monotherapy following short-term DAPT, ticagrelor following 3-month DAPT was associated with a reduced risk of primary bleeding outcomes without increasing any ischemic outcomes.PMID:37562542 | DOI:10.1016/j.jjcc.2023.08.001

The effect of thrombocytapheresis on hemogram and biochemistry parameters in patients with essential thrombocytemia
CONCLUSION: The use of thrombocytapheresıs in patients with essential thrombocytosis causes a rapid decrease in platelet values as well as an effect on hemogram and biochemistry parameters. Other hemogram and biochemistry parameters such as platelet value should be monitored in patients.PMID:37558046 | DOI:10.1016/j.tracli.2023.08.001

Mid-trimester uterine artery Doppler for aspirin discontinuation in pregnancies at high risk for preterm pre-eclampsia: Post-hoc analysis of StopPRE trial
CONCLUSIONS: Discontinuing aspirin treatment at 24-28 weeks in women with a UtAPI ≤90th percentile was non-inferior to continuing aspirin treatment until 36 weeks for preventing preterm pre-eclampsia.PMID:37555464 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17631

Secondary thrombocythemia with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction as the first manifestation: a case report
CONCLUSION: After a thorough analysis of the pertinent literature, we discovered that several retrospective studies demonstrated the effectiveness of cytoreductive therapy in significantly reducing platelet counts. Based on this finding, we prescribed hydroxyurea to our patient, which led to a gradual decrease in platelet count and ultimately resulted in a return to normal levels.PMID:37554887 | PMC:PMC10405984 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001067
