Improving Herpes Zoster Vaccination Rates Through Use of a Clinical Pharmacist and a Personal Health Record
Conclusions: Communication outside of face-to-face office visits, by both personal health record electronic message and information by mail, can improve preventative health intervention rates compared with standard care.

Incidence and case-fatality of varicella-zoster virus infection among pediatric cancer patients in developing countries
Conclusion: Our results suggest low incidence and case-fatality of VZV infections among pediatric cancer patients in three developing countries. VZV vaccine recommendations for pediatric cancer patients in developed countries may be generalizable to developing countries. What is Known: • Current recommendations, based on evidence from pediatric cancer patients in developed countries, contraindicate varicella-zoster virus (VZV) vaccination until completion of cancer-directed therapy and recovery of immune function. ...

Position statement on infection screening, prophylaxis, and vaccination in pediatric patients with rheumatic diseases and immunosuppressive therapies, part 2: infection prophylaxis
Conclusion: Based on current evidence and a Delphi process, we provided consensus and updated recommendations on prophylaxis and treatment of infections to guide those caring for pediatric rheumatology patients. What is Known:•Data largely derived from adults find that infectious diseases and related complications are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with immune-mediated rheumatic diseases.•It is crucial to be aware of the preventive measures that should be implemented to prevent these infections in children, although most guidelines are often extrapolated from adult cases. What is New:•In the absen...

Vaccination Practices in Pediatric Dialysis Patients Across Europe. A European Pediatric Dialysis Working Group and European Society for Pediatric Nephrology Dialysis Working Group Study
Conclusion: There are variations in vaccination practice across Europe. Children with CKD, those undergoing dialysis, and transplant candidates should receive age-appropriate vaccinations before RTx as well as before the transition to adult nephrology clinics and antibody levels should be monitored to evaluate the immunization status before and after RTx.Nephron

Survey of Physician Practices, Attitudes, and Knowledge Regarding Recombinant Zoster Vaccine
CONCLUSION: Most primary care physicians welcome updated ACIP RZV recommendations for immunocompromised adults. Knowledge gaps, communication issues, and financial barriers need to be addressed to optimize vaccination delivery.PMID:35794307 | PMC:PMC9261227 | DOI:10.1007/s11606-022-07721-z

Epidemiology of Pediatric Herpes Zoster After Varicella Infection: A Population-Based Study
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates the population-based epidemiologic characteristics of pediatric HZ among those who contracted varicella. In the early postvaricella vaccination period, an increased HZ incidence was observed among children with varicella infection aged ≥2 years.

Safety of Live Attenuated High-titer Varicella-zoster Virus Vaccine in Pediatric Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Recipients
We report our experience with the use of a single dose of an Oka strain high-titer zoster-equivalent varicella vaccine in pediatric allogeneic HSCT recipients. We administered the high-titer VZV vaccine to 31 pediatric allogeneic HSCT recipients without vaccine-type VZV infections.

The Cost–effectiveness of Varicella Zoster Virus Vaccination Considering Late Onset Asthma
Conclusion: VZV vaccination program was less costly than the “no-vaccination” scenario, despite delayed onset of asthma post VZV infection. However, vaccination resulted in increased asthma morbidity and mortality. This adds to current evidence that VZV vaccination is cost–effective, and may alter asthma-related health-care outcomes. VZV’s effect on asthma symptoms still needs further evaluation before firm conclusions can be reached.
