American Muslim Engagement With Advance Care Planning: Insights From a Community Survey

We call for greater community outreach and educational programs that instill awareness and knowledge on the importance of ACP, and provide resources for tailored religiously-oriented conversations that assist individuals with ACP.PMID:37641456 | DOI:10.1177/10499091231198216

Relationships Between Personality Traits and Perceived Stress in Surrogate Decision-Makers of Intensive Care Unit Patients
CONCLUSIONS: This study supports that personality, particularly neuroticism, influences the stress of SDMs in the ICU. Further study of personality traits may identify surrogates who are at higher risk of stress-related disorders, which can guide future interventions.PMID:37641412 | DOI:10.1177/10499091231197662

More time in a community setting: A service evaluation of the impact of intrathecal drug delivery systems on place of care of patients with cancer pain
CONCLUSION: In patients with advanced cancer, the successful establishment of intrathecal analgesia is associated with more time in the community and a lower morphine equivalent daily dose at end of life. The study has low numbers, and the sample was retrospectively selected. Nevertheless, these findings suggest the initial investment of time in an inpatient setting may be beneficial. Further research is required, using larger, prospective studies of patient outcomes in this setting.PMID:37632373 | DOI:10.1177/02692163231191548
