The Search for Mexico ’s Earthquake Survivors Enters a Fourth Day, With Some Successes
(MEXICO CITY) —Survivors are still being pulled from rubble in Mexico City as rescue operations stretch into a fourth day Friday, spurring hope among desperate relatives gathered at the sites of buildings collapsed by a magnitude 7.1 earthquake. Mexico’s federal police said several people were lifted out of the debris of two buildings Thursday. Rescuers removed or broke through slabs until they found cracks that allowed workers to wiggle through to reach the victims, then lift them to safety. The city government said 60 people in all had been rescued since the quake hit at midday Tuesday. Still, with the hours...

Soon to be new attending - Job search considerations re: PSLF vs private practice
Hi all, I'm in my last year of fellowship in an outpatient-focused consultant specialty of IM, and should be starting the first attending job search right now about. Trying to figure out my next moves and figured I'd throw it out to the masses aka you lovely people. Apologize in advance for stream of conscious writing I enjoy the outpatient setting much more than inpatient, and quite honestly don't really want to have to step foot into a hospital ever again (although I will miss my... An Analysis of the Application of the Harmony Search Algorithm to Solving the Nurse Rostering Problem.
Abstract The nurse rostering problem describes the task of distributing nurses over working time slots, called shifts, in such a way that the workforce demand for each shift in a scheduling period is met, while ensuring that each nurse is not overttasked or undertasked. This problem is a major issue in Ghana, which this research aims to tackle. To that end, the performance of a heuristic algorithm that showed promise, called the Harmony Search algorithm, is examined. The algorithm, as applied to solving the nurse rostering problem in a hospital in Ghana, was implemented and evaluated with the Python programming la...

A Composite Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for Hospital Equipment Management Risk Control Optimization and Prediction
J Environ Public Health. 2022 May 23;2022:5268887. doi: 10.1155/2022/5268887. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTAiming at the problem that particles cannot realize multidimensional analysis and poor global search ability, a composite particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed, improving the accuracy of particle swarm optimization. Firstly, k-clustering is used to cluster risk management particle swarm optimization. The advantages of particle swarm optimization have to be given full play, and the risk of hospital equipment management from various aspects has to be controlled. Then, the multidimensional particle swarm is segme...
