A Short-Term Outcomes Comparison of Laparoscopic Pancreaticoduodenectomy and Open Pancreaticoduodenectomy at Different Stages of Learning Curves: A Single Center Report
Conclusion: After a long period of training and learning, LPD can be performed safely. And LPD can produce comparable oncological results, with faster postoperative recovery and lower incidence of postoperative complications, after the surgeons successfully surmounted the learning curve.PMID:37582273 | DOI:10.1089/lap.2023.0194

An improved camera model for oblique-viewing laparoscopes: high reprojection accuracy independent of telescope rotation
Phys Med Biol. 2023 Aug 15. doi: 10.1088/1361-6560/acf08f. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTObjective
Oblique-viewing laparoscopes are popular in laparoscopic surgeries where the target anatomy is located in narrow areas. Their viewing direction can be shifted by telescope rotation without changing the laparoscope pose. This rotation also changes laparoscope camera parameters that are estimated by camera calibration to be able to reproject an anatomical model onto the laparoscopic view, creating augmented reality (AR). The aim of this study was to develop a camera model that accounts for these changes, achieving high ...

Prevalence, definition, and etiology of cesarean scar defect and treatment of cesarean scar disorder: A narrative review
CONCLUSION: The cause and pathology of CSDi are becoming clear. However, there is variability in the prevalence and treatment strategies. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further studies using the same definitions.PMID:37577060 | PMC:PMC10412910 | DOI:10.1002/rmb2.12532

Application of three-dimensional reconstruction of renal tumor vessels to guide laparoscopic partial nephrectomy of hilar tumors and non-hilar tumors under zero ischemia
CONCLUSION: The application of three-dimensional renal tumor vascular reconstruction technology can better realize laparoscopic zero ischemia nephron sparing surgery. The target vessels of patients with hilar, single and early renal cancer are easier to find, which is more suitable for three-dimensional renal tumor vascular reconstruction technology to implement laparoscopic zero ischemia nephron sparing surgery.PMID:37574367 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.07.077

Comparison of quality of life after robotic-transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery and robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy
CONCLUSION: The R-vNOTES approach for total hysterectomy for benign uterine diseases provided better complete QOL recovery by POD28 compared to the RALH approach. The surgical outcomes for R-vNOTES were equivalent to those for RALH, suggesting that R-vNOTES may provide a safe approach for robot-assisted hysterectomy.PMID:37572450 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.08.003
