Platinum-based chemotherapy for early triple-negative breast cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Platinum-based chemotherapy using carboplatin in the adjuvant or neoadjuvant setting improves long-term outcomes of DFS and OS in early TNBC, with no evidence of differences by subgroup. This was at the cost of more frequent chemotherapy delays and dose reductions, and greater haematological toxicity, though serious adverse events including neuropathy, febrile neutropenia or treatment-related death were not increased. These findings support the use of platinum-based chemotherapy for people with early TNBC. The optimal dose and regimen are not defined by this analysis, but there is a suggestion that similar rel...

Antineoplastic Effects of Ankaferd Hemostat
CONCLUSION: ABS alters cell metabolism and cell cycle. ABS has antineoplastic role on cancer cells. The expanding context of ABS compromises anti-infective, antineoplastic, and wound healing features. ABS may also be used for the palliative, adjuvant, neoadjuvant, or supportive use by interventional radiology procedures for the treatment of solid tumors. Future controlled studies are necessary to clarify the pleiotropic role of ABS like antineoplastic, antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-infective, antifungal, and antioxidative effects.PMID:35958818 | PMC:PMC9363200 | DOI:10.1155/2022/2665903

A retrospective case-control study for the comparison of 5-year survival rates: the role of adjuvant and neoadjuvant chemotherapy in craniofacial bone sarcoma in adults
CONCLUSION: The use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy may improve survival rates in patients with surgically treated craniofacial bone sarcomas. Due to the retrospective nature of this study, randomized controlled studies are required to derive treatment recommendations.PMID:36818689 | PMC:PMC9936400 | DOI:10.1177/17588359221148023

The Prognostic and Clinical Value of CD44 in Colorectal Cancer: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: This meta-analysis demonstrated that CD44 overexpression might be an unfavorable prognostic factor for CRC patients and could be used to predict poor differentiation, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis. Introduction Although therapies for colorectal cancer (CRC) has improved in recent years, colorectal cancer is still the third most common cause of cancer related death worldwide (1). Metastasis are observed in 25% of patients at initial diagnosis and approximately 50% of patients will develop metastasis (2). Presently, the outcome prediction and the therapy schedule determination of CRC patie...

Lifestyle and personal factors associated with having macroscopic residual disease after ovarian cancer primary cytoreductive surgery
CONCLUSIONS: The association between ET and having no macroscopic residual disease is plausible given a strong underlying biologic hypothesis between this exposure and diagnosis with HGSC. If this or the parity finding is replicated, these factors could be included in risk stratification models to determine whether HGSC patients should receive PCS or neoadjuvant chemotherapy.PMID:36401943 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2022.10.018

Exercise for women receiving adjuvant therapy for breast cancer.
CONCLUSIONS: Exercise during adjuvant treatment for breast cancer can be regarded as a supportive self care intervention that probably results in less fatigue, improved physical fitness, and little or no difference in cancer-specific quality of life and depression. Exercise may also slightly improve cancer site-specific quality of life and cognitive function, while it may result in little or no difference in health-related quality of life. This review is based on trials with a considerable degree of clinical heterogeneity regarding adjuvant cancer treatments and exercise interventions. Due to the difficulty of blinding exe...
