The role of leptin in ischemic stroke and its subtypes: A Mendelian Randomization Study
Observational studies have suggested a relationship between leptin and risk of stroke. However, evidence for the association remains inconsistent, and whether the association reflects a causal relationship remains to be established. To clarify this relationship, we adopted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate whether leptin plays a causal role in the risk of stroke and its subtypes.

Linking biomarkers with healthy lifestyle outcomes after stroke: Supplementary Results of a 12-month Randomized Controlled Trial
Participation in a healthy lifestyle intervention such as the Diabetes Prevention Program Group Lifestyle Balance –adapted for stroke (GLB-CVA) may reduce stroke burden. Identifying biomarkers associated with lifestyle changes may enhance an individualized approach to stroke recovery. We investigated metabolic biomarkers related to cardiovascular and neurological function in individuals with stroke in the GLB -CVA study and healthy (non-stroke) individuals.

High consumption of dairy products and risk of major adverse coronary events and stroke in a Swedish population
Br J Nutr. 2023 Sep 6:1-28. doi: 10.1017/S0007114523001939. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe association between consumption of dairy products and risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) has been inconsistent. There is a lack of studies in populations with high intakes of dairy products. We aimed to examine the association between intake of dairy products and risk of incident major adverse coronary events and stroke in the Swedish Malmö Diet and Cancer cohort study. We included 26,190 participants without prevalent CVD or diabetes. Dietary habits were obtained from a modified diet history and endpoint data were extracted f...

Glutamate infusion reduces myocardial dysfunction after coronary artery bypass grafting according to NT-proBNP: summary of two randomized controlled trials (GLUTAMICS I-II)
CONCLUSIONS: Infusion of glutamate reduced postoperative rise in NT-proBNP after CABG in medium to high-risk patients. A significantly blunted effect was observed only in insulin-treated diabetes patients.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT02592824, https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02592824.PMID:37657522 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajcnut.2023.08.012

Association between Liver Fibrosis and Stroke Recurrence in Young Patients with Ischemic Stroke
Stroke incidence rates are rising among young adults. Liver fibrosis has recently been recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular events and stroke in the general population. It remains unclear whether liver fibrosis influences the prognosis of stroke. We aimed to evaluate the association between liver fibrosis and stroke recurrence in young stroke patients.

The J-shape Association between Total Bilirubin and Stroke in Older Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome: A Multicenter Study
ConclusionsBoth lower and higher bilirubin levels may increase the risk of stroke in older persons with OSAS, and there was a J-type dose-response relationship. The risk of stroke was lowest when the TBil level was approximately 11.5µmol/L.
