Outcomes of early carotid stenting and angioplasty in large-vessel anterior circulation strokes treated with mechanical thrombectomy and intravenous thrombolytics.

Management of agitation following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage: is there a role for Beta-blockers?
Discussion. Antipsychotics and benzodiazepines are often not sufficiently effective in the control of agitation/aggression in patients with traumatic brain injury and similar conditions. Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Surgery for Treatment of Spontaneous Intracerebral Hematomas: A Single-Center Analysis
Conclusions This European surgical stroke center series of an endoscopic operative technique demonstrates safety and efficacy with regard to reduction of hematoma size in patients with large and space-occupying spontaneous ICH. The study suggests that low mortality and acceptable outcomes may be achievable by minimally invasive hematoma surgery. Whether this technique reduces long-term morbidity compared to standard treatment needs to be further investigated in larger prospective randomized controlled trials.

Cn-15 * adverse effects of bevacizumab in brain tumor patients
CONCLUSION: The range of toxicities was similar to other reports. Interestingly, hypertension was the most common adverse effect and was often not treated. The high incidence of lymphocytopenia may have implications for combination with immunotherapies. These findings underscore the need to develop predictive models to identify patients at high risk for serious treatment-related toxicities.

Changes in intracranial pressure gradients between the cerebral hemispheres in patients with intracerebral hematomas in one cerebral hemisphere
Conclusions: BPP sensors should be applied to the injured cerebral hemisphere, because this becomes the source of increased ICP. Hematoma evacuation surgery effectively decreases ICP and eliminates pressure gradients between the two cerebral hemispheres, consequently enabling brain shift correction.

High incidence of adverse cerebral blood flow responses to spreading depolarization in the aged ischemic rat brain
Spreading depolarizations (SDs) occur spontaneously in the brain after stroke, exacerbate ischemic injury, and thus emerge as a potential target of intervention. Aging predicts worse outcome from stroke; yet, the impact of age on SD evolution is not clear.Cerebral ischemia was induced by bilateral common carotid artery occlusion (2VO) in young (8-9 week-old, n=8) and old (2 year-old, n=6) anesthetized rats. Sham-operated animals of both age groups served as control (n=12). Electrocorticogram, direct current potential, and cerebral blood flow (CBF) variations were acquired via a small craniotomy above the parietal cortex.

Transarterial regional hypothermia provides robust neuroprotection in a rat model of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion with transient collateral hypoperfusion.
In conclusion, we demonstrated the neuroprotective effects of transarterial regional hypothermia in an ischemic model of pMCAO with tCHP. Even though MCAO is persistent, cold infusion via the ICA is neuroprotective for the penumbra, suggesting the wider therapeutic application of this therapy.
