Eating habits in the population of the Aeolian Islands: an observational study.
CONCLUSIONS: Study findings show the eating habits and health status of the Aeolian people in an interesting setting of low incidence of cerebrovascular disease. This nutrition regimen has been proved to be protective against cerebrovascular disease. Nutrition is likely to contribute to the low incidence of stroke in this population. Burden of cardiovascular disease from 1990 to 2017 in Henan Province, China
CONCLUSIONS: The absolute burden of CVDs in Henan is still high, although age-standardized DALYs declined between 1990 and 2017. The prevention and control of stroke and ischemic heart diseases should focus on a few modifiable risk factors which mainly contributed to the burden of CVDs, such as dietary factors, high systolic blood pressure, and tobacco use.PMID:34420496 | DOI:10.1080/16549716.2021.1959708

Collapse in the Heat - From Overhydration to the Emergency Room - Three Cases of Exercise-Associated Hyponatremia Associated with Exertional Heat Illness.
We describe three cases of symptomatic hyponatremia initially contributed to heat illnesses. The first soldier was a 31-yr-old female who "took a knee" at mile 6 of a 12-mile foot march. She had a core temperature of 100.9°F, a serum sodium level of 129 mmol/L, and drank approximately 4.5 quarts of water in 2 h. The second case was a 27-yr-old female soldier who collapsed at mile 11 of a 12-mile march. Her core temperature was 102.9°F and sodium level was 131 mmol/L. She drank 5 quarts in 2.5 h. The cost-effectiveness of government actions to reduce sodium intake through salt substitutes in Vietnam
ConclusionThis research shows that all three modelled salt substitution strategies would be good value for money relative to no intervention in Vietnam. The subsidised alternative would require the highest level of government investment; however the implementation costs will be exceeded by healthcare savings assuming a reasonable time horizon is considered.

Risk factors related with high sodium intake among Malaysian adults: findings from the Malaysian Community Salt Survey (MyCoSS) 2017-2018
CONCLUSION: Adults who are obese, have a large waist circumference, of male gender, living in urban areas, and belonging to the young adult age group were found to have higher sodium intake than other demographic groups. Whether glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) or sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) are cost-effective when considering solely their cardiorenal benefits is unknown. We projected the incidence and costs of hospitalisation for myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, and heart failure (HF), and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) among people with type 2 diabetes under scenarios of widespread use of these drugs, from an Australian healthcare perspective.

Neurosurgery Morbidity and Mortality: A Prospective Surgical and Medical Analysis
CONCLUSION: The mortality and morbidity analysis provided valuable neurosurgical information that may influence future treatment management and corrective recommendations. Indication and judgment errors were significantly associated with mortality. In our study, the patients' comorbidities were not significant for mortality or increased length of stay.PMID:36941096
