Comparative anticancer effects of Annona muricata Linn (Annonaceae) leaves and fruits on DMBA-induced breast cancer in female rats
CONCLUSION: These results confirm the anti-breast cancer effect of A. muricata, however, the aqueous fruit extract was more potent than the ethanolic leaves extract.PMID:37454062 | DOI:10.1186/s12906-023-04073-x

Hypothesizing the Green Synthesis of Tamoxifen Loaded Magnetic Nanoparticles for the Treatment of Breast Cancer
The objective of this hypothesis is to prepare tamoxifen-loaded PEGylated NiO nanoparticles using green chemistry, tumbling the toxic effects of the conventional method of synthesis for targeted delivery to breast cancer cells. Significance of the research work: The significance of the work is to hypothesize a green method for the synthesis of NiO nanoparticles that are eco-friendly, cost-effective, decrease multidrug resistance, and can be used for targeted therapy. Garlic extract contains an organosulfur compound (Allicin) which has drug-metabolizing, anti-oxidant, and tumour growth inhibition effects. In breast cancer, ...

Synthesis, identification and evaluation of molecular docking and experimental anti-cancer and antioxidant activity of new spiro four membered ring derivatives bearing 5-nitro isatin
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Mar 30:1-8. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2195178. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSpiro-5-nitro isatino aza-β-lactams were produced by a [2 + 2] cycloaddition of 5-nitro isatin Schiff bases [1-5] with different aromatic isocyanate and thioisocyanate. 1HNMR and 13CNMR as well as FTIR spectroscopies, were used to identify the structures of the obtained compounds. These spiro-5-nitro isatin aza- β-lactams interest to us due to their potential antioxidant and anticancer properties. The MTT assay was used to examine in vitro bioactivity testing against breast cancer (MCF-7) cell lines. From result data, compoun...

Screening of Anti-carcinogenic Properties of Phytocompounds from Allium ascalonicum for Treating Breast Cancer Through In Silico and In Vitro Approaches
Appl Biochem Biotechnol. 2022 Nov 4. doi: 10.1007/s12010-022-04202-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPlants, rich in phytocompounds, have been in usage since time immemorial for treating various diseases, namely, cancer. One such plant species, Allium ascalonicum (Shallot) belonging to Amaryllidaceae family is being studied here for its anti-carcinogenic properties against breast cancer. GC-MS characterization of A. ascalonicum exhibited 48 phytocompounds containing five peak phytocompounds and 13 phytocompounds with anti-carcinogenic properties. These 13 anti-carcinogenic phytocompounds were docked with three hormonal rece...

Solid Self-Nano Emulsifying Nanoplatform Loaded with Tamoxifen and Resveratrol for Treatment of Breast Cancer
Pharmaceutics. 2022 Jul 18;14(7):1486. doi: 10.3390/pharmaceutics14071486.ABSTRACTThe solid self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (s-SNEDDS) is a growing platform for the delivery of drugs via oral route. In the present work, tamoxifen (TAM) was loaded in SNEDDS with resveratrol (RES), which is a potent chemotherapeutic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and P-gp inhibitor for enhancing bioavailability and to obtain synergistic anti-cancer effect against breast cancer. SNEDDS were developed using capmul MCM as oil, Tween 80 as surfactant and transcutol-HP as co-surfactant and optimized by central composite rotatable desig...

Alteration in glucose metabolism in the brain associated with tamoxifen treatment: Study in postmenopausal animal model
Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 2022 Mar 27:116002. doi: 10.1016/j.taap.2022.116002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTamoxifen is an effective breast cancer therapy in postmenopausal women. However, it can induce hyperglycemia through different mechanisms, such as the impairment of mitochondrial metabolism. Quercetin, a flavonoid with antioxidant potential, has beneficial effects on tamoxifen-induced adverse effects. Therefore, this study aimed to (1) investigate glucose concentration in blood, cerebrospinal fluid, cerebellum, cortex, and hippocampus of tamoxifen-treated ovariectomized female rats, non-treated and treated with querc...
