The Safety of Continuing Low-dose Aspirin Therapy Perioperatively in the Patients had Undergone Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Based on our findings, transient cessation of aspirin perioperatively seems not to be necessary for patients who need PCNL complicated with the necessity of aspirin therapy. However, further well-designed prospective studies with large sample size are needed to confirm and validate our findings.PMID:35762083 | DOI:10.22037/uj.v19i.7170

The efficacy of chemopreventive agents on the incidence of colorectal adenomas: A systematic review and network meta-analysis
Prev Med. 2022 Jul 22:107169. doi: 10.1016/j.ypmed.2022.107169. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTColorectal cancer (CRC) is the fourth most common cancer and third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Use of chemopreventive agents (CPAs) to reduce the incidence of precursor colorectal adenomas could lower the future burden of CRC. Many classes of potential CPAs have been investigated. To identify the most effective CPAs, we conducted a systematic review and a network meta-analysis (NMA). An electronic search was performed through August 2020 to identify all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the efficac...

Interventions to prevent or treat heavy menstrual bleeding or pain associated with intrauterine-device use
CONCLUSIONS: Findings from this review should be interpreted with caution due to low- and very low-certainty evidence. Included trials were limited; the majority of the evidence was derived from single trials with few participants. Further research requires larger trials and improved trial reporting. The use of vitamin B1 and mefenamic acid to treat heavy menstruation and tolfenamic acid to prevent heavy menstruation associated with Cu IUD should be investigated. More trials are needed to generate evidence for the treatment and prevention of heavy and painful menstruation associated with LNG IUD.PMID:36017945 | DOI:10.1002...

Pathophysiology and Mechanisms of Saphenous Vein Graft Failure
CONCLUSION: The interaction between the different parts of the pathophysiology of vein graft failure is extremely complex and variable. Recent improvements in surgical techniques and secondary pharmaceutical prevention like early aspirin administration and long-term statin treatment have significantly reduced early and late saphenous vein graft failure. However, this continues to be a fascinating area of research with the potential for further improvement for patients and health service provision.PMID:36053999 | DOI:10.21470/1678-9741-2022-0133

Risk factors for pre-eclampsia in clinical practice guidelines: comparison with the evidence
CONCLUSIONS: Pre-eclampsia risk factors in CPGs are poorly aligned with evidence, particularly for the strongest risk factor, obesity. There is a lack of distinction between risk factors identifiable in early pregnancy and those arising later. A refresh of strategies advocated by CPGs is needed.PMID:36209504 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17320

A Review of Aspirin-exacerbated Respiratory Diseases and Immunological Efficacy of Aspirin Desensitization
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2022 Oct 26;21(5):512-523. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v21i5.11039.ABSTRACTAspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) is a chronic inflammatory disease. It is defined by asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis, and a hypersensitivity reaction to aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Aspirin desensitization (AD) has been confirmed as an effective treatment to control AERD inflammation through the modulation of immune responses. We aimed to review AERD with an overview of the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and treatment. We also discussed the effect of AD on immunological ma...
