Sensors, Vol. 21, Pages 6739: Reactive Exercises with Interactive Objects: Interim Analysis of a Randomized Trial on Task-Driven NMES Grasp Rehabilitation for Subacute and Early Chronic Stroke Patients
Conclusions: The S2 system, developed according to shared clinical directives, was tested in a clinical proof of concept. Variations of ARAT scores confirm the feasibility of clinical investigation for hand rehabilitation after stroke.

Feasibility of platelet marker analysis in ischemic stroke patients and their association with one-year outcome. A pilot project within a subsample of the Stroke Induced Cardiac Failure in Mice and Men (SICFAIL) cohort study
Platelets. 2021 Dec 7:1-9. doi: 10.1080/09537104.2021.2002834. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPatients with ischemic stroke (IS) are at increased risk of mortality and recurrent cerebro- or cardiovascular events. Determining prognosis after IS remains challenging but blood-based biomarkers might provide additional prognostic information. As platelets are crucially involved in the pathophysiology of vascular diseases, platelet surface proteins (PSP) are promising candidates as prognostic markers in the hyperacute stage. In this pilot study, feasibility of PSP analysis by flow cytometry (HMGB1, CD84, CXCR4, CXCR7, CD62p with ...

Mechanical Thrombectomy in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke and Concomitant Intracranial Hemorrhage
ConclusionPreinterventional intracranial hemorrhage in acute ischemic stroke patients with large vessel occlusion is rare. The use of MT is technically feasible and a  substantial number of patients achieve good clinical outcome, indicating that MT should not be withheld in patients with preinterventional intracranial hemorrhage.

Patient Pathways During Acute in-Hospital Stroke Treatment: A Qualitative Multi-Method Study
Discussion:Our results show that most direct staff-patient interactions are focussed within one phase, with a smaller number of interactions extending to other phases, and no professional (group) with direct patient interactions cover more than two phases of the acute stroke pathway. Future research should investigate how the pathways described here are experienced from the patient perspective, including how the organisation of visible care processes may influence patient satisfaction. Findings can be translated to accessible patient information resources as well as input for digitalisation efforts, provider orientation an...

Point of Care Assessment of Direct Oral Anticoagulation in Acute Ischemic Stroke: Protocol for a Prospective Observational Diagnostic Accuracy Study
This study will test the hypothesis that hyperacute point-of-care assessment of clotting time in the patient's whole blood has sufficient diagnostic accuracy to determine immediately whether stroke patients are pretreated with DOAC. Methods/ Design: This will be a prospective single-center diagnostic accuracy study in 1850 consecutive acute ischemic stroke patients at a tertiary stroke center in Saxony, Germany. Presence of active anticoagulation with DOAC will be determined by point-of-care quantification of clotting time via whole blood viscoelastic testing (ClotPro®) using Russell venom viper and Ecarin assay compared ...

Tailored GuideLine Implementation in STrokE Rehabilitation (GLISTER) in Germany. Protocol of a Mixed Methods Study Using the Behavior Change Wheel and the Theoretical Domains Framework
ConclusionThis will be the first endeavor to implement a guideline in German stroke rehabilitation with a focus on changing care provider behavior based on the knowledge of current practice and determining factors using a tailored and theory-based intervention.

Machine learning based outcome prediction of large vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation prior to thrombectomy in patients with wake-up stroke
CONCLUSION: Machine learning algorithms have the potential to aid in the decision making for thrombectomy in patients with wake-up stroke especially in hospitals, where emergency CTP or MRI imaging is not available.PMID:36344011 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221135695

A study of the correlation between stroke and gut microbiota over the last 20years: a bibliometric analysis
ConclusionFindings suggest that in the next 10 years, the number of publications produced annually may increase significantly. Future research trends tend to concentrate on the mechanisms of stroke and gut microbiota, with the inflammation and immunological mechanisms, TMAO, and fecal transplantation as hotspots. And the relationship between these mechanisms and a particular cardiovascular illness may also be a future research trend.

Participation after stroke: the influence of depression in outpatient neurological rehabilitation.
DISCUSSION: A relationship between depressiveness and participation was shown. The treatment of depressive symptoms through timely administered psychotherapeutic and medicinal care and general activity promotion could influence the participation in a beneficial way.
