The effect of sexuality on the quality of life of elderly people in Morocco
Afr J Reprod Health. 2023 Aug 31;27(8):76-82. doi: 10.29063/ajrh2023/v27i8.8.ABSTRACTIn Morocco, the sexuality of the elderly is still a taboo subject, and sexual health is very much marginalised in the care system. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sexuality and the quality of life of elderly people in Morocco. A cross-sectional survey using a structured questionnaire aimed at a sample of 354 people aged 65 and over attending health centres in the province of Essaouira was conducted between 2021 and 2022. The French version of the Leipad scale was used to assess quality of life and sexual f...

Incidence of idiopathic nephrotic syndrome during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Paris area (France) and in the Netherlands
ConclusionsIncidence of INS before and during the Covid-19 pandemic was not different, but when schools were closed during lockdown, incidence was significantly lower. Interestingly, incidences of other respiratory viral infections were also reduced as was air pollution. Together, these results argue for a link between INS onset and viral infections and/or environmental factors.Graphical abstractA higher resolution version of the Graphical abstract is available asSupplementary information

Collective aeromedical evacuations of SARS-CoV-2-related ARDS patients in a military tactical plane: a retrospective descriptive study
After the appearance of the COVID-19 pandemic in France, MEROPE system was created to transform the military tactical ATLAS A400M aircraft into a flying intensive care unit. Collective aeromedical evacuations (aero-MEDEVAC) of patients suffering from SARS-CoV-2-related acute respiratory distress syndrome was performed from June to December 2020. A total of 22 patients were transported during seven missions. All aero-MEDEVAC was performed in safe conditions for patients and crew. No life-threatening conditions occurred during flight. Biohazard controls were applied according to French guidelines and prevented crew contamina...

Early diagnosis of chronic kidney disease in patients with diabetes in France: multidisciplinary expert opinion, prevention value and practical recommendations
This article provides an overview of critical laboratory evidence of CKD and their limitations, such as estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR), Kidney Failure Risk Equation (KFRE), and serum potassium. eGFR is estimated using the CKD-EPI 2009 formula, more relevant in Europe, from the calibrated dosage of plasma creatinine. The estimation formula and the diagnostic thresholds have been the subject of recent controversies. Recent guidelines emphasized the combined equation using both creatinine and cystatin for improved estimation of GFR. UACR on a spot urine sample is a simple...

French National Diagnostic and Care Protocol for antiphospholipid syndrome in adults and children
Rev Med Interne. 2023 Sep 19:S0248-8663(23)00711-7. doi: 10.1016/j.revmed.2023.08.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAntiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a chronic autoimmune disease involving vascular thrombosis and/or obstetric morbidity and persistent antibodies to phospholipids or certain phospholipid-associated proteins. It is a rare condition in adults and even rarer in children. The diagnosis of APS can be facilitated by the use of classification criteria based on a combination of clinical and biological features. APS may be rapidly progressive with multiple, often synchronous thromboses, resulting in life-threatening...
