Safety of Simultaneous Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Carotid Endarterectomy Versus Isolated Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Although our results cannot rule out a treatment-group effect because of lack of power, a superiority of the synchronous combined carotid endarterectomy+CABG approach seems unlikely. Five-year follow-up of patients is still ongoing.Clinical Trial Registration—URL: https://www.controlled-trials.com. Unique identifier: ISRCTN13486906.

Trends in cardiovascular mortality and hospitalisations, and potential contribution of inhospital case-fatality rates to changes in national mortality in the Czech Republic 1994-2009
Conclusions During the study period, the overall CVD hospitalisation rates remained high but inhospital CFR declined considerably. The improved case-fatality seems to have made a substantial contribution to the decline in the national CVD mortality, particularly for AMI and stroke.

Neuropsychological performance after carotid endarterectomy
Conclusions: CEA not only decreases the long-term risk of ischemic stroke, but may also improve cognitive performance. In a small percentage of cases, there is higher risk of embolic stroke and silent microembolization due to surgery, which may have a negative impact on cognitive function. However, we did not detect any cognitive impairment after CEA in our patients.PMID:35164472 | DOI:10.31083/j.jin2101036
