Effects of antiepileptic drugs polytherapy on pregnancy outcomes in women with epilepsy: An observation study in northwest China
CONCLUSION: Prenatal exposure to the combinations containing valproate, phenobarbital, or topiramate was associated with increased risk of adverse pregnant outcomes. AED-related teratogenicity may be reduced by planned pregnancy in WWE exposed to polytherapy. Our findings also suggest the combination of lamotrigine and levetiracetam seems to be most desirable to balance seizure control and fetal safety.PMID:36095876 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2022.108904

Evaluating postnatal exposure to six heavy metals in a Chinese e-waste recycling area
This study is the first to assess postnatal exposure to heavy metals using breast milk in an electronic waste (e-waste) recycling area. From January to April 2021, 102 and 97 breastfeeding women were recruited from an e-waste recycling area and a control area, respectively. Four weeks after delivery, medical staff collected 20 mL of breast milk from each participant. The breast milk was tested for six heavy metals (lead, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, copper, and manganese) using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The estimated daily intake (EDI) of infants during breastfeeding was calculated to assess the...

Parental food neophobia, feeding practices, and preschooler's food neophobia: A cross-sectional study in China
CONCLUSION: Chinese preschoolers' food neophobia needs more attention because children with high food neophobia tend to have lower dietary quality. Children whose parents have high-level food neophobia should be the focus of early prevention. Earlier postpartum breastfeeding, more use of parental modelling, less pressure to eat and higher frequency of children eating with families are helpful to reduce the incidence of children's food neophobia.PMID:36958634 | DOI:10.1016/j.appet.2023.106547

Determinants of infant behavior and growth in breastfed late preterm and early term infants: a secondary data analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Exclusive breastfeeding might promote more favorable infant behaviors in late preterm/early term infants, while the development of infant distress behaviors was associated with some maternal characteristics (maternal education and annual income). However, due to the limitations of diary methods, determinants of infant behavior should ideally be assessed using more objective measures in larger samples.PMID:37036644 | DOI:10.1007/s12519-023-00696-9

Impact of family integrated care on infants ’ clinical outcomes in two children’s hospitals in China: a pre-post intervention study
ConclusionThe results of our study suggests that FIC is feasible in two Chinese NICUs and might improve clinical outcomes of preterm infants with BPD. Further research is needed to include all infants admitted to NICUs and should include parent reported outcome measures. Our study may help other NICUs with limited parental access to implement FIC to enhance parental empowerment and involvement in the care of their infant.
