Pharmacokinetic Variables of Dapagliflozin/Metformin Extended-Release Fixed-Dose Combination in Healthy Chinese Volunteers and Regional Comparison
This study evaluated the bioequivalence of the dapagliflozin/metformin FDC product versus IC administration in healthy volunteers from a Chinese population and assessed the safety profile of the FDC product. In addition, pharmacokinetic (PK) and safety comparisons of dapagliflozin and metformin across different regions were conducted to evaluate regional differences.METHODS: This single-center, open-label, parallel-cohort, randomized, 2-period, crossover study enrolled Chinese adults (aged 18-55 years). Volunteers in cohort 1 received either a single FDC tablet of dapagliflozin/metformin extended release (XR) (5/500 mg) or...

Metformin may be a viable adjunctive therapeutic option to potentially enhance immune reconstitution in HIV-positive immunological non-responders
Chin Med J (Engl). 2023 May 29. doi: 10.1097/CM9.0000000000002493. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIncomplete immune reconstitution remains a global challenge for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) treatment in the present era of potent antiretroviral therapy (ART), especially for those individuals referred to as immunological non-responders (INRs), who exhibit dramatically low CD4+ T-cell counts despite the use of effective antiretroviral therapy, with long-term inhibition of viral replication. In this review, we provide a critical overview of the concept of ART-treated HIV-positive immunological non-response, and also expl...

Dihydromyricetin promotes GLP-1 release and glucose uptake by STC-1 cells and enhances the effects of metformin upon STC-1 cells and diabetic mouse model
CONCLUSION: Dihydromyricetin promotes GLP-1 release and glucose uptake by STC-1 cells and enhances the effects of metformin upon STC-1 cells and diabetic mice, which might ameliorate diabetes through improving L cell functions. The Erk1/2 and AMPK signaling pathways might be involved.PMID:37229936 | DOI:10.1016/j.tice.2023.102108

Unusual phenomenon-"polyp" arising from a diverticulum: A case report
CONCLUSION: Granulation tissue associated with healed diverticular perforations resemble polyps. Tattooing around these sites may allow for future targeted colonic resections.PMID:37215427 | PMC:PMC10198085 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i13.3070

Efficacy of Exenatide Administered Twice Daily in Body Mass Index Reduction in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
CONCLUSION: BMI scores improved after exenatide treatment for 52 weeks in T2DM patients. Weight loss was affected by baseline body weight and blood glucose level. In addition, BMI reduction from the baseline to 52 weeks was positively correlated with baseline HbA1c, hsCRP, and SBP. Trial Registration. Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR-1800015658).PMID:37214201 | PMC:PMC10199797 | DOI:10.1155/2022/7128859

MET Inhibits the Proliferation of EC Cells by Increasing MPA Sensitivity
CONCLUSIONS: MET inhibited the proliferation of EC cells by increasing MPA-sensitivity, which was dependent on the inhibition of the CD133 expression and the Akt/mTOR pathway. In addition, if MET acts as an effective progestin sensitizer, it certainly offers promising therapeutic prospects for patients with early-stage EC or overgrown endometrium who have fertility requirements.PMID:37171945
