FDA Cautions Cancer Patients About Medical Marijuana
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a stern warning Wednesday to companies marketing medical marijuana to cure or inhibit cancer — including mesothelioma — and cautioned patients about unsubstantiated claims. Clinical Features and Risk Factors of Adrenal Insufficiency in Patients With Cancer Admitted to the Hospitalist-Managed Medical Unit
CONCLUSION: AI was found in about one-third of patients with cancer who showed general symptoms that may be easily masked by cancer or chemotherapy, suggesting that clinical suspicion of AI is important while treating cancer patients. History of corticosteroids or megestrol acetate were risk factors for AI and eosinophilia was a pre-test predictor of AI. Baseline cortisol level appears to be a useful adjunct marker for AI.PMID:35851863 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2022.37.e222

Systemic treatment with capecitabine as maintenance therapy in patients with recurring or metastatic breast cancer: experience in the Oncology Hospital, National Medical Center Siglo XXI, Mexican Social Security Institute
Abstract Metastatic breast cancer as initial onset represents between 20 and 30 % of cases and is considered an incurable disease. The goal of its treatment is palliative, looking for increasing the survival while reducing the symptoms. Maintenance chemotherapy studies for metastatic breast cancer have demonstrated to prolong the progression-free survival, with unclear results in terms of overall survival. The main objectives of our study were the progression-free survival and overall survival in patients with recurring or metastatic breast cancer treated with capecitabine in the maintenance chemotherapy setting...
