The effect of self-care education through teach back method on the quality of life in hemodialysis patients.
CONCLUSION: This study showed that self-care education through teach back method improves the quality of life in hemodialysis patients. Therefore, it is recommended that nurses in the hemodialysis unit implement self-care education through teach back method as an important task. PMID: 32532600 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Kidney Transplant Evaluation and Listing: Development and Preliminary Evaluation of Multimedia Education for Patients
CONCLUSIONS In partnership with stakeholders, we developed 2 educational animations about kidney transplant evaluation and listing that were positively received by patients and have the potential to improve patient knowledge and understanding and reduce patient concerns.PMID:33649286 | DOI:10.12659/AOT.929839

Relative risk factors for seropositive hepatitis E virus among blood donors and haemodialysis patients: The pivotal role of primary health care education
CONCLUSION: The relative risk factors of the HEV seroprevalence were gender, age, locality and animal contact. Besides the need of a regular survey for the virus seroprevalence, primary health care physicians can play pivotal role in health education, especially in rural areas of Sudan. In addition, primary health care physicians in Sudan are expected to establish strategies and plans to eradicate and minimise the health impact of HEV.PMID:34568151 | PMC:PMC8415677 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_2441_20

Predictive Models for Kidney Recovery and Death in Patients Continuing Dialysis as Outpatients after Starting In Hospital
CONCLUSIONS: The ReDO models generated accurate expected probabilities of recovery to dialysis-independence and death in patients who continued outpatient dialysis after initiating dialysis in hospital. Acute Start-Chronic Needs: Education and Support for Adults who have had Acute Start Dialysis.
Abstract For those patients with CKD followed in a pre-dialysis environment, it is well appreciated that modality education leads to an informed decision regarding type of dialysis selected. However, for those individuals starting dialysis acutely and requiring chronic renal replacement therapy, modality education may be lacking. Because of the acuity of the dialysis start, and the intercurrent illness or event which precipitated and acute start, these patients require a specialized approach to education, and indeed, require a combination of education and support to learn about and choose a renal replacement thera...

Education in Vascular Access
Abstract The successful creation and use of an arteriovenous vascular access (VA) requires a coordinated, educated multidisciplinary team to ensure an optimal VA for each patient. Patient education programs on VA are associated with increased arteriovenous VA use at dialysis initiation. Education should be tailored to patient goals and preferences with the understanding that experiential education from patient to patient is far more influential than that provided by the healthcare professional. VA education for the nephrologist should focus on addressing the systematic and patient‐level barriers in achieving a functional...

End-Stage Renal Disease in Nursing Homes: A Systematic Review
Conclusions: NH residents with ESRD appear to be a particularly vulnerable population, but current information on their prevalence, characteristics, and outcomes is limited. Further research is needed to provide a better understanding of modifiable predictors of survival and functional decline in this population.
