2055769 Point-Of-Care Ultrasound Education at Harvard Medical School: a Pilot Study
Point-of-care ultrasound (POC US) use is expanding across all medical specialties and efforts to integrate US into pre-clinical medical education are growing. We test the feasibility of integrating POC US into the 1st and 2nd year medical school curriculum.

Examine How Interest Groups at Medical Schools Can be Focal Points to Research and Collaboration. What is the Role of the Medical Student in this Process of Ultrasound
Over the last few years, ultrasound in medical education has taken on a new level of both student interest and engagement. In our discussion, we hope to address how medical students have adapted this technology into their curriculums both with faculty support and without it. For student-driven curriculums, much of the impetus behind its integration comes from a variety of factors: 1. Student interest to self organize their own education without waiting for their curriculums to catch up, 2. Providing a bottom up method of introducing ultrasound to an institution, and 3) Creating pressure to drive curriculum integration.

Radiology in Medical Education: A Pediatric Radiology Elective As a Template for Other Radiology Courses
Conclusions We have successfully created an elective experience in radiology that dedicates time to education while preserving the workflow of radiologists. We have developed tools to provide a customized experience with many self-directed learning opportunities. Our tools and techniques are easily translatable to a general or adult radiology elective.

Long-Term Retention of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Training During Residency
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation developed milestones for evaluation of resident physicians that include proper musculoskeletal ultrasound examination of major joints. To date, there have been no published data demonstrating acquisition and retention of these skills and correlation with the milestone evaluation. The investigators developed and implemented a curriculum in musculoskeletal ultrasound examination for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents at a large academic medical center. The investigators chose the following six j...

IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 3849: Process-Oriented Instrument and Taxonomy for Teaching Surgical Procedures in Medical Training: The Ultrasound-Guided Insertion of Central Venous Catheter
arcos Sepúlveda Procedural training is relevant for physicians who perform surgical procedures. In the medical education field, instructors who teach surgical procedures need to understand how their students are learning to give them feedback and assess them objectively. The sequence of steps of surgical procedures is an aspect rarely considered in medical education, and state-of-the-art tools for giving feedback and assessing students do not focus on this perspective. Process Mining can help to include this perspective in this field since it has recently been used successfully in some applications. However, these pre...

Education and training in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and pain medicine
Purpose of review Effective and safe regional anaesthesia and pain medicine procedures require clinicians to learn and master complex theoretical knowledge and motor skills. This review aims to summarize articles relevant to education and training in these skill sets in the previous 2 years. Recent findings Twenty-two articles were identified, investigating nine out of the 13 top-ranked research topics in education and training in regional anaesthesia. Research topics addressed by these articles included prerotation simulation, deliberate practice combined with formative assessment tools, validation of assessment tool...

Evaluation of optimal education level to implement structured reporting into ultrasound training.
CONCLUSIONS: Implementing structured reporting of HNU results in a superior report quality at all training stages. Greatest benefits for time efficiency are achieved by implementation during medical school. Therefore, structured reporting of HNU should be implemented early on in the training of HNU. The global epidemic of thyroid cancer overdiagnosis illustrated using 18  months of consecutive nodule biopsy correlating clinical priority, ACR‐TIRADS and Bethesda scoring
This article illustrates the use of TIRADS at a New Zealand tertiary centre, during its introduction, with all nodules unde rgoing fine‐needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) correlated with clinical referral priority and cytological Bethesda score. The correlation between TIRADS and Bethesda score was not significant but cytology had a strong association with clinical priority. Accuracy of TIRADS was poor though the risk of malignancy for TIRADS 5 nodules was 5.1 times those rated as TIRADS 3. After TIRADS was introduced, there was no significant trend in the proportion of malignant nodules diagnosed by FNAB. Despite an incomp...
