Comparison of high-resolution synchrotron-radiation-based phase-contrast imaging and absorption-contrast imaging for evaluating microstructure of vascular networks in rat brain: from 2D to 3D views
In conclusion, SR-based phase-contrast imaging holds great promise for visualizing microstructure of microvascular networks in two- and three-dimensional perspectives during the development of neurovascular diseases.

What Are Pulmonary Embolism Risk Factors?
Discussion Pulmonary embolism (PE) is potentially life-threatening but fortunately rare event especially in the pediatric population. It was first described in children in 1861. PE is likely underreported because of minimal or non-specific clinical symptoms. The incidence is estimated at 0.05-4.2% with the 4.2% based on autopsy reports. It is probably also increasing as more central venous catheters (CVC) are used, and more children are surviving previously poor prognostic diseases. There is a bimodal distribution with cases < 1 year (especially neonates which account for ~50% of this group) and in teenagers. Neonates a...

Contrast enhanced ultrasound characterization of surgically resected renal masses in patients on dialysis.
Conclusions: In this sample of surgically resected tumors, CEUS was effective in characterizing renal lesions as solid neoplasms or complex cystic lesions suspicious for neoplasm-findings which merit further investigation. PMID: 31549563 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Primary diagnosis of pulmonary embolism with unenhanced MRI for patients not eligible for CTPA: Clinical outcome
ConclusionsOur method supported or altered clinical decision-making and treatment in this cohort. A diagnostic tool for PE without intravenous contrast agent or radiation is of great benefit for certain patients.

4:21 PM Abstract No. 136 Use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound after computed tomography –guided microwave ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma in our practice with magnetic resonance imaging and pathologic correlation
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is a low cost and effective imaging modality that is accessible immediately post procedure which allows the clinician to instantly perform additional ablation of the tumor if a residual tumor is detected. CEUS can be an alternative to contrast enhanced CT in patients with underlying renal disease or iodine allergy. The purpose of this abstract is to share our experience with use of contrast enhanced ultrasound after microwave ablation for HCC with MRI correlation and posttransplant pathology.

International Consensus Statement: Spontaneous Cerebrospinal Fluid Rhinorrhea
ConclusionWe present fifty consensus statements on the diagnosis, investigation, and management of spontaneous CSF rhinorrhea based on the currently available evidence and expert opinion. Although by no means comprehensive and final, we believe they can contribute to the standardization of clinical practice. Early diagnosis, prompt surgical closure of the defect, assesment for and treatment of potentially co ‐existing idiopathic intracranial hypertension in a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach are essential in order to successfully manage spontaneous CSF rhinorrhea, reduce associated morbidity and prevent recurrence.

129Xe MRI as a measure of clinical disease severity for pediatric asthma
Measurement of regional lung ventilation with hyperpolarized 129Xe magnetic resonance imaging (129Xe MRI) in pediatric asthma is poised to advance our understanding of disease mechanisms and pathophysiology in a disorder with diverse clinical phenotypes. 129Xe MRI has not been investigated in a pediatric asthma cohort.

Peripheral and proximal lung ventilation in asthma: Short-term variation and response to bronchodilator inhalation
The relative involvement of the large and small airways in asthma is not clear. Hyperpolarized gas magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides high-resolution 3-dimensional images of ventilation distribution that can be quantified by the ventilated volume percentage (VV%) of the lungs.

Who Gets Pott ’ s Puffy Tumor?
Discussion Pott’s puffy tumor (PPT) was first described by Sir Percivall Pott in 1775 and who also described other orthopaedic and oncological diseases subsequently named for him. “It is a subperiosteal abscess of the anterior wall of the frontal sinus associated with underlying frontal osteomyelitis.” The tender edema and swelling of the forehead is the sign of PPT. Associated fever, headache, and rhinorrhea along with similar problems such as postnasal drip or nasal congestion are common. Associated ophthalmological problems include peri-orbital or eyelid edema and/or preseptal cellulitis. Ptosis and di...
