Combined inhalation and oral supplementation of Vitamin A and Vitamin D: A possible prevention and therapy for tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is continuing as a problem of mankind. With evolution, MDR and XDR forms of tuberculosis have emerged from drug sensitive strain. MDR and XDR strains are resistant to most of the antibiotics, making the management more difficult. BCG vaccine is not providing complete protection against tuberculosis. Therefore new infections are spreading at a tremendous rate. At the present moment there is experimental evidence to believe that Vitamin A and Vitamin D has anti-mycobacterial property.

Primary Glomerulonephritis with Unique C4d Deposition and Concurrent Non-infectious Intermediate Uveitis: a Case Report and Literature Review.
We report a case of a 62-year-old man with C4 glomerulonephritis (GN) and uveitis. He presented to the nephrology department with proteinuria and hematuria. The patient also had intermediate uveitis along with proteinuria and hematuria. A kidney biopsy that was performed in light of continuing proteinuria and hematuria showed a focal proliferative, focal sclerotic glomerulopathy pattern on light microscopy, absent staining for immunoglobulin or C3 by immunofluorescence microscopy, with bright staining for C4d on immunohistochemistry, and electron-dense deposits on electron microscopy. Consequently, C4 GN was suggested as t...

Changes in the anterior segment of the eye following uncomplicated pars plana vitrectomy. A review.
Authors: Kopecky A, Nemcansky J Abstract Pars plana vitrectomy is currently the most common technique used in retinal surgery. Although primarily involving the posterior segment of the eye it also affects the anterior segment. As this is a less published topic, the aim of this paper was to review the literature on changes in the anterior segment after uncomplicated pars plana vitrectomy using data based literature search. The conclusions are that even in otherwise ophthalmologically healthy patients, complications may occur in the anterior segment. Surgeons need to pay utmost attention in glaucoma patients and in t...

Metabolomic analysis in ophthalmology.
Authors: Nazifova-Tasinova N, Radeva M, Galunska B, Grupcheva C Abstract Modern science takes into account phenotype complexity and establishes approaches to track changes on every possible level. Many "omics" studies have been developed over the last decade. Metabolomic analysis enables dynamic measurement of the metabolic response of a living system to a variety of stimuli or genetic modifications. Important targets of metabolomics is biomarker development and translation to the clinic for personalized diagnosis and a greater understanding of disease pathogenesis. The current review highlights the major aspects o...

Three-year clinical and optical coherence tomography follow-up after stereotactic radiotherapy for neovascular age-related macular degeneration
CONCLUSIONS: SRT significantly reduced the cumulative anti-VEGF treatment burden over three years, however, this was mainly driven by the results of the first year after irradiation. A thinner SFCT at time of irradiation was associated with poorer visual outcome. While further research and investigation are warranted to elucidate the underlying pathogenesis, SFCT could be a potential biomarker when evaluating a patient's suitability for SRT.PMID:33730635 | DOI:10.1016/j.advms.2021.03.002

Dietary diversity as a sustainable approach towards micronutrient deficiencies in India
Indian J Med Res. 2022 Jan;156(1):31-45. doi: 10.4103/ijmr.ijmr_3314_21.ABSTRACTThe silent epidemic of micronutrient deficiencies (MNDs) continues to be a major public health challenge in the developing world, including India. The prevalence of iron, iodine, zinc, vitamin A and folate deficiencies is alarmingly high worldwide. India is additionally facing a high prevalence of vitamin D and B12 deficiencies. To combat the hidden epidemic of MNDs, various governments around the world have mostly relied on supplementation or fortification-based interventions. India launched salt iodization programme in 1962 and vitamin A and ...
