Low cord blood Foxp3/CD3γ mRNA ratios: a marker of increased risk for allergy development
Conclusions and clinical relevanceLow cord blood Foxp3/CD3γ mRNA ratios are highly predictive for early allergy development, whereas specific IgE levels to hen's egg white above 0.05 Ua/mL at age one year predict allergy development in general. This article is protected by copyright. Determination of the clinical egg allergy phenotypes using component‐resolved diagnostics
Abstract IgE‐mediated egg allergy presents as one of the most common food allergies in children and is a food which is widely consumed all over the world. Measurement of egg white‐specific IgE levels has been shown to be a poor predictor of clinical phenotypes of egg allergy, including to raw egg white, but particularly to baked or cooked egg. Egg white and yolk contain more than 20 different glycoproteins, including ovomucoid, ovalbumin, ovotransferrin, alpha‐livetin, and the newly identified Gal d 6. Recent developments in component‐resolved diagnostic technology, including microarrays, have enabled us to improve...

Oral Immunotherapy for Egg Allergy: A Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Study, with Postdesensitization Follow-Up
Conclusion Egg OIT results in desensitization in almost all subjects, although tolerance was maintained in only 1/3 of them after a 3-month period of withdrawal. Side effects were encountered, but the procedure appeared safe. In hen egg allergy, OIT is effective for desensitization.

The Oral Provocation Test for Raw Egg in Patients with Hen Egg Allergy
Conclusions: The SPT and blood-specific IgE can be used to diagnose HEA. However, the provocation test for REW in children without HEW allergy is important because the values of SPT and specific IgE were not significantly different between children with and without raw egg allergy.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Ovalbumin‐specific IgE/IgG4 ratio might improve the prediction of cooked and uncooked egg tolerance development in egg allergic children
ConclusionsOvalbumin‐specific IgG4 is an independent predictor of tolerance development to uncooked egg. Ovalbumin‐sIgE/sIgG4 ratio, followed by SPT, seems to perform better than sIgE in identifying egg‐allergic children with high probability of tolerance to cooked and uncooked egg over follow‐up.This article is protected by copyright. A Multicenter Retrospective Case Study of Anaphylaxis Triggers by Age in Korean Children.
CONCLUSIONS: The most common anaphylaxis trigger in Korean children was food. Data on these triggers show that their relative frequency may vary by age. PMID: 27582405 [PubMed]

Heated egg yolk challenge predicts the natural course of hen ’s egg allergy: a retrospective study
ConclusionsClassifying infants who are allergic to hen ’s egg into EYSEW tolerant and EYSEW reactive groups was useful in determining prognosis.

Hydrolysed ovalbumin offers more effective preventive and therapeutic protection against egg allergy than the intact protein
Conclusions and Clinical RelevanceThis study provides evidence for the superior role of hydrolysed, as compared to intact allergens, in the prevention of allergy development and in the promotion of long term desensitization, as well as of intermolecular tolerance. This article is protected by copyright. Utility of fresh egg skin prick test and egg-yolk specific IgE for outgrowth.
CONCLUSION: A diameter of SPT for FE ≤4mm and sIgE values of ≤2.1 kU/L for EY and ≤4.0 kU/L for EW have good PPV for outgrowth of EA under two years of age. PMID: 32526376 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Dehydrated egg white: An allergen source for improving efficacy and safety in the diagnosis and treatment for egg allergy
ConclusionsThis is the first time that it is shown that the allergenicity of commercially available DEW is equivalent to raw egg whites. In vivo and in vitro tests showed that processing of DEW does not affect the allergenicity of egg proteins. DEW is an effective and microbiologically safer source of allergen for the diagnosis of egg allergy. Furthermore, DEW can be used in egg oral immunotherapy.

Vaccination with recombinant modified vaccinia virus Ankara prevents the onset of intestinal allergy in mice
ConclusionModified vaccinia virus Ankara‐ovalbumin (MVA‐OVA) vaccination induces a strong OVA‐specific TH1‐ immune response, likely mediated by the induction of IFN‐γ and IgG2a. Finally, MVA‐based vaccines need to be evaluated for their therapeutic potential in established allergy models.

Tolerance To Egg Proteins In Egg Sensitized Infants Without Previous Consumption
ConclusionsIn egg sensitized infants with EW SPT ≥8mm and/or EW sIgE ≥ 8,36 KU/L, egg diagnostic OFC can be avoided as there is 94% probability of becoming positive. In the other patients, OFC should be performed safely and early in order to avoid unnecessary diets. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
