Effects of Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Field (RF-EMF) exposure on pregnancy and birth outcomes: A systematic review of experimental studies on non-human mammals
In conclusion, in utero RF-EMF exposure does not have a detrimental effect on fecundity and likely affects offspring health at birth, based on the meta-analysis of studies in experimental mammals on litter size and fetal weight, respectively. Regarding possible delayed effects of in utero exposure, RF-EMF probably does not affect offspring brain weight and may not decrease female offspring fertility; on the other hand, RF-EMF may have a detrimental impact on neurobehavioural functions, varying in magnitude for different endpoints, but these last findings are very uncertain. Further research is needed on the effects at birt...

The impact of intimate partner violence on adverse birth outcomes in public health facilities. A prospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: The incidence of adverse birth outcomes was significantly higher in the physically IPV-exposed group than in the non-exposed group. Therefore, pregnant women should be screened for IPV during their antenatal period. Thus, IPV-exposed pregnant women should be counseled and closely followed up.PMID:37717345 | DOI:10.1016/j.midw.2023.103815

Determination of cefuroxime in breast milk by LC-MS/MS using SALLME technique
In this study, we aimed to develop the LC-MS/MS method using salt-assisted liquid-liquid micro-extraction (SALLME) for the determination of cefuroxime in breast milk. The method was validated according to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) guidelines. Cefuroxime and the internal standard cefixime were extracted from plasma by a SALLME technique. The results obtained from the entire validation study are at an acceptable level according to the EMA criteria. The calibration curve of cefuroxime was between 25 and 1000 ng/ml, with correlation coefficients of >0.99. The lower limit of quantitation was 25 ng/ml for cefuroxime...

Analysis of the factors influencing male infertility of reproductive age in Jinan
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, a total of 6 risk factors are screened for male infertility in Jinan in the reproductive age, including high academic qualifications, coffee consumption, living in a room that has finished renovation within 3 months, high stress, poor quality of sexual life, and long spousal separation. Three factors can be controlled, avoided, or reduced through personal actions; the factors are coffee consumption, living in a room that has finished renovation within 3 months, and high stress, all of which may reduce the level of male reproductive health.PMID:37606119 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33282

Association of pre-pregnancy body mass index with early- and late-onset severe preeclampsia
CONCLUSIONS: Class I and II obesity are significantly associated with preeclampsia with severe features. Class I obesity is significantly related to late-onset severe preeclampsia with, whereas class II obesity is associated with both early- and late-onset severe preeclampsia.PMID:37600071 | PMC:PMC10432592 | DOI:10.1016/j.eurox.2023.100223

Maternal and neonatal outcomes in pregnant women with heart disease with single evaluation vs. semi-structured evaluation by a cardio-obstetric team
CONCLUSIONS: In pregnant women with heart disease, an SSF compared with a USF by a cardio-obstetric team did not show statistically significant differences in cardiovascular, obstetric, and neonatal outcomes. However, patients with SSF had a significantly higher risk of adverse outcomes due to the mWHO and CARPREG-II scales. This result suggests that the SSF achieves at least equal outcomes despite the higher risk of adverse events that patients in this group had.PMID:37553104 | PMC:PMC10406487 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.22000057

Exclusion of pregnant people from emergency vaccine clinical trials: A systematic review of clinical trial protocols and reporting from 2009 to 2019
CONCLUSION: Pregnant people are underrepresented in vaccine clinical trials conducted during outbreaks, resulting in underreporting of pregnancy-related outcomes and a lack of protection for pregnant people and neonates from infectious diseases.PMID:37442686 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.06.073

Physical activity: associations with health and summary of guidelines
Food Nutr Res. 2023 Jun 26;67. doi: 10.29219/fnr.v67.9719. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThe understanding of how physical activity and insufficient physical activity are associated with health outcomes has increased considerably over the past decades. Along with physical activity, the evidence on the associations between sedentary behavior and health has increased, which has resulted in the introduction of recommendations of sedentary behavior. In this article, we 1) present terminology for physical activity and sedentary behavior epidemiology, 2) show the relevant scientific evidence on associations of physical activity and s...
