Molecular Complex of HSIM-loaded Polymeric Nanoparticles: Potential Carriers in Osteoporosis
CONCLUSION: Bone-targeting nanoparticles incorporating functionalized simvastatin can target bone. Thus, in order to distribute simvastatin subcutaneously for the treatment of osteoporosis, the developed nanoparticles may act as a promising approach.PMID:37718521 | DOI:10.2174/1389450124666230915092910

Comparative effectiveness of therapeutic interventions in pregnancy and lactation-associated osteoporosis: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Due to high heterogeneity and lack of robust comparative data, no safe conclusions can be made regarding the optimal therapeutic intervention in women with PLO.PMID:37708365 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad548

Acyl-protein thioesterase1 alleviates senile osteoporosis by promoting osteoblast differentiation via depalmitoylation of BMPR1a
CONCLUSION: APT1 activated the BMP/Smad pathway and promoted OD by regulating BMPR1a depalmitoylation, thus alleviating mouse SOP.PMID:37674692 | PMC:PMC10477743 | DOI:10.1016/j.reth.2023.05.004

Tensin-3 is involved in osteogenic versus adipogenic fate of human bone marrow stromal cells
CONCLUSIONS: Here, we identify TNS3 to be involved in BMSC fate decision. Our study links the domain structure in TNS3 to RhoA activity via actin dynamics and implicates an important role for TNS3 in regulating osteogenesis and adipogenesis from BMSCs. Furthermore, it supports the critical involvement of cytoskeletal reorganization in BMSC differentiation.PMID:37668682 | PMC:PMC10480249 | DOI:10.1007/s00018-023-04930-5

Effect of chemotherapy and different chemotherapy regimens on bone health among Chinese breast cancer women in different menstrual status: a self-control study
CONCLUSION: Chemotherapy might induce lumbar vertebrae BMD loss and spine osteoporosis with regimen differences among Chinese BC patients. Calcium/VitD supplementation could improve bone turnover markers, bone metabolism indicators, and bone mineral density. Early interventions on bone health are needed for BC patients during chemotherapy.PMID:37642751 | DOI:10.1007/s00520-023-07960-8

The Association Between Bone Remodeling Markers, genes polymorphisms with Incidence of Osteopenia Among Young Saudi Female
In conclusion, the GG genotype of FDPS rs2297480 and the TT genotype of LRP5 rs3736228 was shown to be strongly associated with osteopenia in young Saudi females with low bone mineral density and SOST levels.PMID:37605583 | DOI:10.14715/cmb/2023.69.6.16

Mg-Zn-Ca Alloy (ZX00) Screws Are Resorbed at a Mean of 2.5 Years After Medial Malleolar Fracture Fixation: Follow-up of a First-in-humans Application and Insights From a Sheep Model
CONCLUSION: In this sheep model, Mg-alloy (ZX00) screws showed a resorption to one-third of the original volume after 25 months, without eliciting adverse immunologic reactions, supporting biocompatibility during this period. Mg-alloy (ZX00) implants were not detectable on radiographs after a mean of 2.5 years, suggesting full resorption, but further studies are needed to assess environmental changes regarding bone quality at the implantation site after implant resorption.CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The study demonstrated successful healing of medial malleolar fractures using bioresorbable Mg-alloy screws without clinical complica...

Dihydrotanshinone I attenuates estrogen-deficiency bone loss through RANKL-stimulated NF- κB, ERK and NFATc1 signaling pathways
In conclusion, our investigation elucidates the ability of DTI to regulate multiple signaling pathways activated by RANKL, leading to the inhibition of osteoclast formation and prevention of estrogen-deficiency osteoporosis. Consequently, DTI emerges as a promising candidate for the treatment of osteoporosis.PMID:37572501 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110572
