Clinical outcomes in patients with native valve infective endocarditis and diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSION: There is an increasing prevalence of DM in NVIE and it is associated with poorer outcomes. Further studies are crucial to identify the clinical, and sociodemographic contributors to this trend and develop strategies to mitigate its attendant risk.PMID:33552399 | PMC:PMC7821010 | DOI:10.4330/wjc.v13.i1.11

Ten-year all-cause death following percutaneous or surgical revascularization in patients with prior cerebrovascular disease: insights from the SYNTAX Extended Survival study
ConclusionPrior CEVD was associated with a significantly increased risk of 10  year all-cause death which was similar in patients treated with PCI or CABG. These results do not support preferential referral for PCI rather than CABG in patients with prior CEVD.Trial registration: SYNTAX: ClinicalTrials.gov reference: NCT00114972. Effect of Family History of Atrial Fibrillation on Recurrence After Atrial Fibrillation Ablation: A Report from the Chinese Atrial Fibrillation Registry Study
ConclusionFAF is a risk factor for post ‐ablation AT recurrence. This is especially true in those with AF diagnosed at 50 years or younger.Clinical Trial Registration —URL:http://www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=5831.Unique identifier: ChiCTR ‐OCH‐13003729.This article is protected by copyright. Impact of Frailty on Bleeding Events Related to Anticoagulation Therapy in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation.
CONCLUSIONS: Frailty is associated with increased bleeding events related to anticoagulant therapy in patients previously hospitalized with AF. Greater care should be taken with patients with a CHS frailty index ≥2. PMID: 33504742 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prognostic value of the H2FPEF score in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation
ConclusionsThe H2FPEF score serves as an independent predictor of adverse CV and heart failure outcome among TAVI patients with preserved EF. A high H2FPEF score is associated with the presence of paradoxical low ‐flow, low‐gradient AS, the HFpEF in patients with AS. By identifying patients in advanced stages of HFpEF, the H2FPEF score might be useful as a risk prediction tool in patients with preserved EF scheduled for TAVI.

Atrial Conduction Disorders.
Authors: Alexander B, Tse G, Martinez-Selles M, Baranchuk A Abstract Atrial conduction disorders result from impaired propagation of cardiac impulses from the sinoatrial node through the atrial conduction pathways. Disorders affecting interatrial conduction alter P-wave characteristics on the surface electrocardiogram. A variety of P-wave indices reflecting derangements in atrial conduction have been described and have been associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) and stroke. Interatrial block (IAB) is the most well-known and described of the different P-wave indices and is important clinically...

Endocardial versus epicardial left atrial appendage exclusion for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation: Midterm follow ‐up
ConclusionEndocardial and Epicardial LAAC techniques show comparable implantation outcomes and safety profile and stroke prevention in patients with AF. Future randomized studies are needed to corroborate these initial results and assess long term mortality.
