Effect modification of age and hypertension on cancer and prevalence of self ‐reported stroke – A cross‐sectional study
The objective of this study was to examine the effect modification of age on the relationship between cancer and prevalence of self-reported stroke. We used cross-sectional data from the 2015 –2016 iteration of the Canadian Community Health Survey. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to assess the association between cancer and self-reported stroke. Covariates were assessed for effect modification using the maximum likelihood estimation method. We analyzed 86,809 subject s; the prevalence of self-reported stroke was 1.11%. The odds ratio for the association between cancer and self-reported stroke was 1.26 ...

Management of Early Severe Hypertension in Acute Intracerebral Hemorrhage in Primary Stroke Centers vs. Non-Stroke Center Hospitals (P01.022)
CONCLUSIONS: Antihypertensives were initiated earlier for ICH at PSCs, however steroid utilization was no different. This suggests that routing stroke patients to PSCs may improve timeliness of antihypertensive therapy for ICH and greater education requiring avoidance of steroids is desirable even within PSCs.Disclosure: Dr. Flinders has nothing to disclose. Role of the new rural cooperative medical system in alleviating catastrophic medical payments for hypertension, stroke and coronary heart disease in poor rural areas of China
Conclusions: Out-of-pocket medical spending on hypertension, stroke and CHD imposes a heavy financial burden on the residents of fourth-class rural areas of China. The NRCMS has some impact on reducing catastrophic medical payments associated with these diseases, but improvement of the reimbursement rate is necessary to further improve its effectiveness.

Identifying treatment related problems and associated factors among hospitalized post-stroke patients through medication management review: a multi-center study
ConclusionLack of drug efficacy, inappropriate drug adherence and patient knowledge were the major TRPs identified via delivering the MMR service to post-stroke patients. The identified TRPs highlights the importance of the MMR service, and supports planning future strategies aimed at decreasing the incidence of strokes.

The Relationship between Glucose Control & Cognitive Function in People with Diabetes after a Lacunar Stroke.
CONCLUSION: This analysis of lacunar stroke patients with diabetes demonstrates a relationship between A1C and change in cognitive scores over time. Intervention studies are needed in order to delineate if better glucose control could slow the rate of cognitive decline in this high risk population.
