Quantification of carotid plaque composition with a multi-contrast atherosclerosis characterization (MATCH) MRI sequence
CONCLUSION: MATCH images can be used to quantify plaque components such as LRNC and IPH but not for calcifications. Although MATCH images showed a lower mean image quality score, short scan time and inherent co-registration are significant advantages.PMID:37680565 | PMC:PMC10481960 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2023.1227495

Diffusion-Restricted Lesions of the Splenium: Clinical Presentation, Radiographic Patterns, and Patient Outcomes
Discussion Vascular DR lesions of the splenium were more common than CLOCCs and other etiologies in this cohort. While splenial DR lesions can present a clinical challenge, their associated clinical and radiographic characteristics may predict outcome and guide prognosis.

CONCLUSION: A 1-min full-brain T 2 * $$ {\mathrm{T}}_2^{\ast } $$ -weighted MRI technique was developed using msEPI with a navigator echo to correct motion-induced errors. Preliminary clinical results suggest faster scans and improved motion robustness and lesion conspicuity make msEPI a competitive alternative to traditional T 2 * $$ {\mathrm{T}}_2^{\ast } $$ -weighted MRI techniques for brain studies in the ED.PMID:37668095 | DOI:10.1002/mrm.29809

P124/272 Initial encounter with a cutting-edge mobile head CT scanner (Somatom On.site) in a neuro-intensive care unit
ConclusionThe study demonstrates the clinical effectiveness of modern mobile CT scanners in neurointensive care units. The Somatom On.site provides sufficient image quality, saves time and supports timely decision making. The integration of mobile CT scanners in NICUs improves patient care and workflow. Prospective studies are needed to validate these findings and assess the long-term impact in NICUs and other units, such as stroke units.Disclosure of InterestCK serves as consultants for Acandis GmbH (Pforzheim, Germany) and proctor for MicroVention Inc./Sequent Medical (Aliso Viejo, CA, USA).

Noninvasive In Vivo Thrombus Imaging in Patients With Ischemic Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack
CONCLUSIONS: 18F-GP1 positron emission tomography and computed tomography angiography is a novel noninvasive method of identifying in vivo cerebrovascular thrombosis, which holds major promise in understanding the role and origin of thrombosis in stroke.REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov; Unique identifier: NCT03943966.PMID:37439259 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.122.318204

A brain CT-based approach for predicting and analyzing stroke-associated pneumonia from intracerebral hemorrhage
DiscussionOur findings suggest that our method is effective in classifying the development of pneumonia based on brain CT scans. Furthermore, we identified distinct characteristics, such as volume and distribution, of ICH in four different types of SAP.

Using a CT Angiography Artificial Intelligence Carotid Plaque Morphology Model to Predict Stroke
The gold standard for determining carotid artery stenosis is to calculate stenosis using the North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial criteria and ultimately plan for medical vs surgical management based on percent stenosis and symptomatic status. Few studies have assessed plaque morphology as an additive tool for stroke prediction. Our study uses an artificial intelligence software in conjunction with a patient's computed tomography (CT) scan of the neck to create a three-dimensional (3D) model of the carotid artery and assess plaque morphology including calcification, intraplaque hemorrhage, matrix, and pe...

Minimally Invasive Intracerebral Hemorrhage Evacuation Improves Pericavity Cerebral Blood Volume
This study aims to quantify blood volume changes in the perihematomal parenchyma and pericavity parenchyma after minimally invasive intracerebral hemorrhage evacuation (MIS for ICH). Thirty-two patients underwent MIS for ICH with pre- and post-operative CT imaging and intraoperative perfusion imaging (DynaCT PBV Neuro, Artis Q, Siemens). The pre-operative and post-operative CT scans were segmented using ITK-SNAP software to calculate hematoma volumes and to delineate the pericavity tissue. Helical CT segmentations were registered to cone beam CT data using elastix software. Mean blood volumes were computed inside subvolume...
