Endovascular treatment of intracranial arteriovenous malformation with n-butyl cyanoacrylate. Working methods and experience in 58 cases.
CONCLUSIONS: The rates of total occlusion and of morbidity and mortality in the series are in the internationally described ranges. The implementation of intranidal closings with 20-30% devascularization per session and the use of post-embolization hypotension after the haemorrhage complications described resulted in the total absence of haemorrhagic complications. Intraoperative seizures during craniotomy under general anesthesia
An acute symptomatic seizure is a clinical seizure occurring at the time of a systemic insult or in close temporal association with a documented brain insult [1]. Seizures have been reported to occur at the time of focal brain insults including head trauma, ischemic stroke, and intracranial hemorrhage [2] but have not previously been reported as an intraoperative consequence of a neurosurgical procedure. Propofol is commonly used as an anesthetic agent [3] and a treatment for status epilepticus [4], but it has been reported to be a proconvulsant in some cases [5].

Propofol Reduces Inflammatory Brain Injury after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: Involvement of PI3K/Akt Pathway
Background: Our previous study showed that propofol, one of the widely used anesthetic agents, can attenuate subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)-induced early brain injury (EBI) via inhibiting inflammatory and oxidative reaction. However, it is perplexing whether propofol attenuates inflammatory and oxidative reaction through modulating PI3K/Akt pathway. The present study investigated whether PI3K/Akt pathway is involved in propofol's anti-inflammation, antioxidation, and neuroprotection against SAH-induced EBI.

Evaluation of energy intake compared to indirect calorimetry requirements in critically ill patients with acute brain injury
CONCLUSION: In this population, patients had lower energy intake compared to their caloric needs determined by IC during the first 72 hours of admission but attained 7-day goals.
