Risk of hospital admission or emergency department presentation due to diabetes complications: a retrospective cohort study in Tasmania, Australia
ConclusionsOur results demonstrated the high demand on hospital services due to diabetes complications (especially macrovascular complications) and highlighted the importance of preventing and properly managing microvascular complications. Pituitary aspergillosis in a kidney transplant recipient and review of the literature
Abstract Pituitary aspergillosis is a very rare disease, documented in only 12 cases. Although seen in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients, serious invasive sequelae, such as meningoencephalitis and death, have been noted in immunocompromised patients. Immunocompromised patients are susceptible and require complex multidisciplinary care to contain the spread of infection and maximize outcomes. Curcumin Treatment Protects Against Renal Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury–Induced Cardiac Dysfunction and Myocardial Injury
Conclusions: Curcumin pretreatment improved cardiac contractility and attenuated myocardial and renal injury through reducing inflammatory response in the kidney and heart and oxidative stress in the myocardium.

Renovascular hypertension: A report of 21 cases.
Abstract Renovascular hypertension (RVH) is among the most common forms of secondary hypertension. We studied 21 patients (eight male and 13 female) with RVH who were encountered during a period of 16 years. The average age of the patients was 34.75 years. Trans-renal Doppler ultrasound confirmed the diagnosis of renovascular stenosis (RAS) as the cause of RVH in 95% of the patients. Chronic kidney disease in Primary Health Care: Prevalence and associated risk factors.

Metabolic Failure Drives Ischemia Reperfusion Injury during Human Kidney Transplantation
Introduction: Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, the paradoxical increase of tissue damage that occurs upon restoration of blood supply to ischemic tissue, is the primary cause of organ dysfunction after stroke, myocardial infarction, and organ transplantation. Despite a plethora of successful preclinical interventions, no intervention proved effective in the clinical context; pointing to incomplete understanding of human I/R injury. Ischemia and reperfusion is an inherent consequence of kidney transplantation, and underlies delayed graft function (DGF) following transplantation.
