Conclusions: The pilot project incorporated personal selling into the dispensing workflow and, although no vaccines were given, provided valuable lessons. The full study demonstrated that personal selling alone and personal selling combined with automated telephone calls were associated with higher vaccine delivery rates.PMID:37368429 | DOI:10.3390/pharmacy11030103

Fight Aging! Newsletter, February 13th 2023
This study investigated whether taller Polish adults live longer than their shorter counterparts. Data on declared height were available from 848,860 individuals who died in the years 2004-2008 in Poland. To allow for the cohort effect, the Z-values were generated. Separately for both sexes, Pearson's r coefficients of correlation were calculated. Subsequently, one way ANOVA was performed. The correlation between adult height and longevity was negative and statistically significant in both men and women. After eliminating the effects of secular trends in height, the correlation was very weak (r = -0.0044 in men and ...

Microbiological and clinical characteristics of Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 3 infection and risk factors for severe outcome: A multicenter observational study
CONCLUSIONS: Serotype 3 infection showed a high mortality rate, especially in patients with older ages and comorbidities. Although the incidence rates decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic, serotype 3 remained as an important cause of infection after the implementation of PCV13. Developing a more effective vaccine against serotype 3 and monitoring the antimicrobial-resistant sequence types are necessary.PMID:36774315 | DOI:10.1016/j.jmii.2023.01.013

Chronic medical conditions associated with invasive pneumococcal diseases in inpatients in teaching hospitals in S ão Paulo city: Estimating antimicrobial susceptibility and serotype-coverage of pneumococcal vaccines
CONCLUSION: Vaccine with expanded valence of serotypes is necessary to offer broad prevention to IPD. The present data contribute to pneumococcal vaccination public health policies for vulnerable patients, mainly those with comorbidity and the elderly.PMID:36758625 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjid.2023.102746
