The benefit of GLP-1RA in different age groups in the cardiovascular outcome trials
Among the United States population, the percentage of adults aged ≥65 years with diabetes is 26.8% [1]. Older adults with diabetes are at increased risk for coronary artery disease, stroke, and premature death compared to those without diabetes, and they are at a greater risk of hypoglycemia compared to younger adults [2]. In addition, older adults are at increa sed risk for polypharmacy, cognitive impairment, and injurious falls [3], which has led practice guidelines to recommend a less stringent glycemic goal in older adults [2].

The prevalence of diabetes is increasing worldwide [1 –3]. Diabetes and its vascular complications are the seventh leading cause of disability worldwide and contribute to the deaths of two million adults per year [4]. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type affecting 90–95% of those with diabetes and may be asymptomatic for years [5]. Uncontrolled diabetes leads to microvascular (e.g., neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy) and macrovascular (e.g., myocardial infarction, stroke) complications and may increase mortality risk [6,7].

Pre-stroke glycemia in patients with diabetes
Conclusion Insulin treatment and hyperlipidemia are associated with higher HbA1c levels in acute stroke patients with T2D. Poor adherence to diabetes treatment is associated with higher HbA1c levels only among patients with HbA1c ≥8%.
